Most of my trips are one day out and backs; though most days are fairly long, I'm home most nights. Usually one or two overnights a month. I'm essentially on call unless it's a holiday or vacation/sick time, but most flights are scheduled at least a week in advance; anything with less than two-day notice I have the option to decline (I rarely decline). I'm salary, so I'm paid the same regardless how often we fly - generally we average about 450-500 hours a year. I'm also responsible for managing the aircraft, so I still have some job tasks on some of the days when flights aren't on the schedule.

How do i get your job? :D

Pretty simple.

We'll need a truck, Royhipnol, some canvass, an entrenching tool and a couple bags of lime.

I'll check his IP address to see where he lives, KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT and follow directions immediately without asking questions. Make sure you're instrument current too.

:) :sarcasm:

Here is my sweet ass schedule for January. Not.

Regional FO at a bottom feeder airline.

Green is reserve 10am-10pm. Except for those little ones which should be illegal, but hey, they arent.

Blue is actual work when reserve was activated.

I guess I could have prefaced my schedule with the fact that I've got 13 years of seniority too.

Crap, I just realized that I'm becoming "that guy" I'd always complain about when I was a new hire. "Good god gramps, upgrade already..."

Eh, mine's easy. 5 on, 2 off. 10 days off total in the month (except this month when they extended me into my day off, making it 6 on, 2 off and 9 days off total).

Thats criminal...and it blows.

What is worse is having the 5 on 2 off and sitting not being used (which now happens rarely) for the first three days of the week and then they want to extend you into your day off our junior man you on you day off. No thank you... missed your chance earlier in the week. Not my fault you can't tell the difference between RSV and OFF. :D

Is "R11" home reserve or RR? If it's home reserve, you have to check in for home reserve? That's retarded. For those not familiar with CrewTrac, the little check marks mean you've "checked in" for the sift. What's "PUN?" Oh, and I agree. The "sliver of death" should go. Unfortunately, it seems management's stance is that it needs to be extended being on RESERVE for 12 hours past your release time rather than released for 10 hours and back on reserve then. Don't let 'em do it you guys. I'd say I doubt a TA will pass on our side if they left it in there, but at this point, I don't think it would even make it to the pilots for a vote if it was in there.

BTW, how do you cut and paste CrewTrac schedules?

R11 is 10-10 reserve.

Let's just say someone like Seggy has PUN all month long.

And yea. I love getting done with a stand up, and then being back on reserve at 5pm.

Wow. You actually have home reserve they don't use you? :) I'm posting my schedule as soon as I figure out how to do it.....

HEY. Pinnacle/Colgan schedules safety. That's all they know how to do. It's their #1 guiding principle and don't you forget it.

Or... wait no.... they will do anything it takes to get an airplane moving.

It's funny you mention that. Me and my co-workers have an ongoing discussion about how easy it would be to get a way with murder with this job. We fly over literally hundreds of miles of nothing, sometimes 50-100 miles from the nearest road. I say it would be pretty easy to dump a body out the plane in this desolation and if you could be gruesome enough to get the body naked and pull out the teeth, the coyotes would do the rest. The body would be going in a matter of a day or two. No body, no evidence..... Anyways, that's the theory. Better than lime?

Wow, you've really though that one through. :laff:

Since nobody listed fractional yet, here's mine.

I work 7 on, 7 off (12 nights away/month)
(4) 21 day vacations/yr
+/- 200 flt hrs/year

Love my job.
