Aviation Movies

I'm going to have to add Spaceballs. It's hilarious, and borderline aviation related, but I started the thread, so dammit, I decide when to go off topic! :bandit:

I remember seeing an aviation comedy movie where the Wright brothers and others had a race across the English channel. Anyone remember what the title of that movie was?

Anytime these kinds of threads come up, I always mention Piece of Cake. It was a mini-series, that I caught on PBS a long time ago, about a British RAF Spitfire squadron during WWII. Amid the typical mini-series drama and romance, there were some pretty good Spitfire flying and dogfighting scenes.

One scene that I remembered the most involved the intelligence officer (I believe) telling one of his junior charges how he could tell who was flying the plane by the way they took off. Apparently, it stood out to someone else also, and he posted it to YouTube:

Pssh. Everybody knows that if you want relentless, gut-wrenching, soul-pounding action, you make a movie about the guys sitting in dark rooms staring at computers. Not only is there Pushing Tin, where you can watch a 747's jetblast toss John Cusack and Billy Bob Thorton into the air, but Ground Control, which features Jack Bauer, the dad from Growing Pains, the chick from Top Gun, and... wait for it... The Fonz. Not only that, but it's online, if for some strange reason you can't find it at your local RedBox.

Watch a movie without ever leaving JC:

You can thank me later.

Edit: Thanks mod.

Speed and Angels

This could be worth seeing and I'm not sure everyone knows about it. Available on NetFlicks. Make sure and watch the cat shot at 7:00. I think I used to date that girl... She sounds familiar.

The Proposal. :D

For two reasons: It had a Brasilia, which was on screen for about ten seconds and Sandra Bullock showed some skin. :D :laff:

What was that flick with Richard Dreyfuss as an aerial firefighter? His plane literally blew up and he came back as a ghost.... Rofl.

Edit:
Found it! Entitled "Always" John Goodman is also in it..haha

The War Lover (1962) with Steve McQueen and Robert Wagner. Excellent flick. The gear-up landing in this clip is real, performed by the late Paul Mantz originally for the movie Twelve-O'Clock High.

"...the fine line that separates the hero from the psychopath...."

Poor poor B17, the guy that decided to do that to a B17 was crazy!

"Always" is a good movie, as the movie IT was based on, 1943's "A Guy Named Joe". :) If you can find a copy (all that's available anywhere is a 1998 VHS release), I highly recommend picking it up.
