Aviation Books for a 10-year-old?

"So you want to be an Actuary". It's a little bit dry, but then that's the business.

Maggie turned 21 yesterday, and was finally able to experience her first taste of alcohol. She's in her junior year at UT-Dallas which has a highly ranked Actuarial Science program which she's studying (it's why she chose it. That and the fact that she got a full ride, plus cash stipend per semester, plus she works for the school now). Your suggestion is solid. She is running out of Calculus courses I think. She just finished Theoretical Calculus and is taking Advanced Differential Equations next semester. Not sure what there is past that. She's bigly smart. She is as actually smart as President Stable Genius things he is.

Jesus Christ. Since I don't have socio-normative friends with children IRL, this is my genuine first experience of WAIT WHAT YOUR KID IS HOW OLD!

Good for her, though. Takes after her Mom, obviously.

A subscription to Flying magazine might be appropriate. Most of the content would be out of his reach but at least there would be new content every month and at 10 pretty much everything is probably outside of his possibilities anyways unless his dad owns a warbird or something similar. I was a reading fiend at that age, I would do nefarious deeds to get my hands on books that I wanted to read and read anything I could get my hands on in the meantime. When I was 11 my dad had to come get me out of the K-Mart security office because I tried to steal a book, I don't recall what book it was. I'm not sure what he thought but I dont remember being punished, I suppose had I tried to steal a Walkman things might have been different.

You could give the kid a CAP membership. A bit dodgy perhaps, but aviation related and still likely better than enrolling him in Catholic Sunday school.

I would never, ever, ever inflict CAP on a kid.
