Avantair down in MI

...I was just pointing out in the audio tape of the tower communication at KFNT the pilot stated they had gyro/instrument indication problems. I was not making the assumption on my own. Not sure what exactly happen and I would never try to play monday morning quarterback. Just pointing out some facts. Proline 21 yes indeed

Understood! No doubt this will be an interesting one...

Very glad everyone made it out alright. Interested in seeing the cause, that thing held up pretty good to a crash and roll., I would fly it.

Same with the Chieftains and the 99. With the windshield heat on and pitot heat I have to take the HSI off slave mode because its usually 40+ degrees off...

The HSI slave compass should be out on the wing away from that interference

Name one transport category aircraft that doesn't have one.

I think the Avanti is normal category.

Ah. You are correct. I could have sworn I looked in an AvantAir bird and saw a placard about some weight above 12,500.
Part 23 certified. 12,100 MGTOW (though there are some rumors that the Avanti III will push that number).

Every Piaggio Avanti cockpit photo I've seen has a mag compass.

Which is placarded, "Unreliable when pitot and/or windshield heat on" They're unusable except in a total power failure.
Yup. It definitely has one. It's definitely just there for looks if you have ANYTHING electric turned on.

The stby ATT has only a 120 minute battery and mag comapss in the 560XL, the 560XLS stby att has a 210 minute battery and its own flux gate to run the heading indication system in it. So no mag compass.

Awesome, thanks for the info!
