Auto Accident

I was recently in a car accident. Bummer. My truck is not to bad, it's still driveable. It has a fat lip (bent bumper) and a black eye (broken grill/bent fender). The person who caused the accident turned left in front of the person in front of me, and I hit the guy who turned left. He was un-licensed, un-insured, spoke zero english, and as far as I know, had not legal right to be in the US. I haven't seen the accident report yet, and am a little worried about the outcome. I don't think I will be of any fault, but in case I am I have a few questions.

I am planning on a corp. career, and wonder how it will affect me in pursuit of a job in the new year.

#1: If it is my fault (by some miricale of CHP stupid-um), how will it effect my job hunt.

#2: If it's not my fault, how will it effect me, and should I even disclose it?

I can't imagine anyone would care at all. Unless you have multiple accidents or alcohol was involved.

Hang on to a copy of the police report but otherwise what you typed here sounds meaningless in terms of employability.

But he prob. has better healthcare than you! and you will be paying for it :) I'm sorry, but these are exactly the reasons why Illegals are, well , illegal... and should be treated as such. I do know that in NH, if you don't have a licence, or insurance, you are automatically at fault. I would hope that CA at least has that part right.

Back ground checks don't look for such things, unless of course your potential job includes driving a company vehicle, or if there was a lawsuit and you have a judgment against you and then believe it or not it WILL show up on your credit report for years.
Unless you were charged with something there should not be any question about it. Police Accident reports don't assign "fault", just simply state the facts. The insurance companies are the ones who fight over fault. if the cops want to fault you with something they charge you with something. at least that's what was explained to me by a cop here in Texas.

Time to lawyer up. I have had friends who were in accidents caused by the other party and were then sued by the other party. You do not want that to happen. Best to get a lawyer now and determine your best coarse of action in order to CYA and possibly prevent a nuisance suit later on.

In terms of flying or your career, don't spend another moment worrying about it.

Glad you're safe!

Now if you were drunk, got caught after a hit and run and the police found a dead Bulgarian hooker in your car and a couple rocks of crack, that's a whole 'nother story.

As previously mentioned, likely zero on both.

Would the airlines really care about any of that so long as you have 1500TT and 500 Multi? :)

Too bad driving unlicensed and uninsured doesn't waive that driver's ability to sue. Especially if he were here illegally. And them some lawyer would probably find a way to win. Arg.

I've been in two car accidents (one fender bender, the other totaled my vehicle) and it has never been an issue. Didn't even mess with my security clearance or ability to drive my employer's vehicles so I wouldn't worry too much about it.

There was a time when I wouldn't have worried about it either. Then I watched friends get sued by the party who caused the accident and was at fault. Now I wouldn't trust my own grandmother not to sue me.

If this is the case my ex would still be unemployed. She hit more parked cars in the 2 months we dated than anyone else I know has in their lifetime. Three to be exact. In one instance, she walked past her bosses car, got in her car, then backed into her bosses car. Straight A student double major engineering/aviation.

So anyways, I suspect the others are right, it will likely have no effect as long as alcohol wasn't involved and you don't have an 5 page accident record.

Time to lawyer up.

Thats what my insurance companies responsibility is, not mine. Why else would I pay for it, if I had to get a lawyer on my own dime.

P.S. Go ahead and sue me I say. You can't squeaze more than a nickel out of a nickel. Ya' know.

Nothing in the regs. As far as form 8500-8 for your medical:

My Flight Surgeon said:
Item 18v - Arrest, Conviction, and/or Administrative Action History is being changed to:
History of any arrest, and/or conviction(s) involving driving while intoxicated by, while impaired by, or while under the influence of alcohol or a drug; or 2) any history of any arrest, and/or conviction(s) or administrative action(s) involving an offense(s) which resulted in the denial, suspension, cancellation, or revocation of driving privileges or which resulted in attendance at an educational or rehabilitation program.

If any of that happened then you have to report it. Only thing in the FARs are drug/alcohol issues.

EDIT: You seem to be getting in trouble a lot recently :p

Do a little background investigation.

I bet he was on the payroll for some sea otters who are annoyed with you...

ZING!

The girl I knew had insurance too. And like you, she didn't have two nickels to rub together. But she still got sued and she still had to get a lawyer to defend the suit. And she still found later that things would have gone easier and been cheaper for her if she had spoken to a lawyer earlier. Not saying that will be the case with you. But after having seen how it went with her, I get a lawyer first and ask questions later.
