Domene says a search for the plane was launched early Sunday, with helicopters from the local civilian protection agency flying over the state. He says seven people are believed to be aboard the U.S.-registered Learjet 25.
The 43-year-old who was born and raised in Long Beach, California, is known for her interpretations of Mexican regional music known as nortena and banda.end of story marker

  • NEW: Officials say they found the wreckage of a plane believed to have been carrying Rivera
  • NEW: "Everything points to that this is the plane," says a minister
  • NEW: Besides Rivera, six others were on board
  • The plane lost contact with air traffic controllers outside Monterrey, Mexico

A Lear 25 is small. Most Turboprops are bigger. The thing is about as close as you can get to a fighter jet without being a fighter jet.
It's a derivative of the Lear 23 which was designed off a Swiss fighter. So it's got some fighter genes.

The 20/30 series are absolutely cut from the same cloth as fighter aircraft. Our 35 got sold, I will miss it. Th Lear is based on the FFA P-16. And for the record the 25 is small, a Caravan is bigger.

RIP to all onboard. Is there confirmation that she was on the aircraft? The authorities and officials say that she may not have been on the LJ.

Considering that a photo taken by one of the pax of her and her group was taken while in flight and sent out on the internet not long before the crash, her mangled driver's license was found at the scene and she has not surfaced at another location, I think it can be said that sadly, she's gone.

"The plane, built in 1969 and registered to a Las Vegas talent management firm, reached 11,000 feet. But 10 minutes and 62 miles into the flight, air traffic controllers lost contact with its pilots, according to Mexican authorities. The jet crashed outside Iturbide, a remote city that straddles one of the few roads bisecting Mexico's Sierra de Arteaga national park."

What would be the purpose of a commercial certificate with a limitation against carrying people or property for hire? Isn't that called a Private?

Cargo? Repo flight?

I like the LR Jet. VFR only.

Having never flown a Lear, what would be the "normal" flight level 10 minutes after take-off and 62 miles out in such an area considering their destination? (From Monterey to Toulca near Mexcio City- which is 446.37 miles from what I can determine) Some of the terrain in that area (of the crash) is 10k to 12k it appears.
