For those of you who dont know what they look like go here...

I saw these sight from 22,000feet over NC and KY last nite. I didnt realise it was something that happened that far south, and infact was the first time id ever seen it. It was quite awesome I must say! A couple of other pilot commented about them over the radio, so I know it wasnt just my eyes!

I saw them here in MI last night as well. Very bright, but only green. The best I've seen was on the Northern shore of Lake Superior about 10 years ago. Greens, blues, and pinks rolling in waves over our heads. Spectacular!

about what time did you see them Photopilot? I'd like to take a gander at them this evening since it's clear out

I saw them around 7:30 and they ended about 8:15 or so. Haven't seen them tonight. I waited around at the airport with my camera, but no dice. Hope you catch a glimpse!

I saw them here in ND last night. Mostly green/blue shades here. Made me miss home (AK) where we see them all the time in the winter. Heres a cool link to a site that does aurora forecasts. The main page shows a forecast map for AK, but by choosing the "Custom Maps" link near the bottom of the page you can select the map over your area. Enjoy.

NOAA said the conditions aren't as good tonight, and the AB won't be as visable as they were last night..

I've never seen them much myself, a little bit up at the farm a few years ago (where there's not much city light). Bill saw a spectacular display when he went to ANC once with TWA.

Wish we could see them down here in AZ! but i'll probably have to wait till next years (hopefully) Alaska trip.

Saw those the other night heading to BNA from ORD. Very lovely! Too bad the g/f wasn't working with me that night.

The best show I've seen was earlier this year. Did the midnight push outta LAS going to Calgary. For 2 hours of the 2.5 trip, we sat and stared at the lights. Awesome, awesome site.
