Hmm.... if they "knew" they were taking these out of service, why bother apply a paint job for 8 months of useage?

They never painted any -200's.

. . .so, why is the "new Delta" keeping the DC-9's, which are probably older (or just as old) as those 747-200's.

Not to mention as everyone like to throw out...paid for!

The 9's are much older.

Only the -200's are leaving. They are parking some -400's, but not retiring them.

Delta further reported Tuesday plans to ground about 50 jets, including its entire fleet of 14 Boeing 747-200 freighter aircraft on Dec. 31 because of that fleet's age and inefficiency. Delta said it will also ground 30 Bombardier CRJ regional aircraft, as well as several less efficient Boeing 757 and MD-88 aircraft...​

Where are the CRJs coming from and I didn't realize the the 757 was inefficient??

To say the 757 is inefficient is kind of strange. It must be something like, "a 60% load on a 757 is inefficient compared to a 737-700 with 90% load."

Like Marcus already mentioned, some from ASA. They keep saying the sky is gonna fall at PCL, but unless they re-negotiate the agreement, they can't drop us below 124 airframes on the NWA side or 16 on the DAL side. That being said, management doesn't do a very good job of telling us what's going on.

Those would be the 5500 series 757s at NW. They are first gen models, ragged out and old!

feeling at times that this place puts out.

I read this and my mind went "Giggity!!!" so I wrote this:

I don't see the problem.

It's not a problem......it's just a different vibe.

The only problem is watching the planes being towed to the scrap area. One 747 has two towbars break on the tugs towing it there from the back 40
