ATP Uniform Policy

I dont want to bring this up again, this has been beaten to death!.... but I am trying get this straight. I read on the ATP website under the 90 program that there is a uniform policy, I dont really give sh%$ either way if we do or dont have to wear them at this point, but when I call ATP to find out how I should be prepared for the first day I can't get a straight answer on what I need to bring if anything? ie. black/blue pants/shorts etc..... At this point I gonna show up for my first day in swim shorts and sandles :rawk:

Uniform Policy

Airlines recognize ATP as the leading provider of Regional Airline Pilots in the US. With the airlines’ increasing demand for pilots, ATP-trained pilots are getting hired within just months of starting training. A professional and uniform appearance reflects the standardization and discipline that the airlines consistently find in ATP pilots.
ATP provides students airline-style uniform pants, shirts, and epaulettes. For the summer months, the uniform will allow for shorts. Each student will provide his or her own black shoes and black belt. A tie is not required. Students must appear in uniform at all times when at an ATP Training Center and when flying ATP aircraft.
 
Looks like it states pretty clear there in the description that they provide you a uniform, and you are responsible for black shoes and a black belt. IF you're talking about arrival, dress the part man. Wear a button down collared shirt, slacks, dress shoes and belt. If I were running the place and you showed up in shorts and sandals, I'd send you home on the spot...
 
I know dude, that's why I would send you home, keep your banana hamock to yourself..now if you were the chic in UND's avatar...that's a different story!

This reminds me, back when I was looking for a place to get my private at, I actually decided against one school based just on the fact that the instructors were "required" to wear ties.

It was about 90 degrees out when they were showing me this plane and I asked why everyone wears ties at the school. One of the CFIs rolled his eyes and said they had to. I was out of there right after that.
 
The uniforms have been expected to arrive "next week" since February. The instructors are the only ones actually wearing any kind of uniform. In fact, the students are more casually dressed than ever.

Yeah Tim, I know the school you are referring too. They made those poor CFIs where a tie no matter what! I once saw a CFI wearing a tie with a freaking polo shirt and running shoes!! I am certainly not the fashion police, but oh my!! :D
 
Yeah, that was the day they showed me the plane with 3 flat tires, and the cracked exhaust pipe. Also the day I met Andrew and he showed me a nice Cessna that could actually fly!

so youd kick out a customer that just forked over $44,000 to your company just cause they were unsure on how to dress? lol, thats funny
 
Life's not all about money Haas...You think Harvard is going to take you just cause you can pay for it? I think not. You build reputation on integrity and attitude.

When I went to my professional academy for financial planning in Atlanta, the company forks over 10g's to send you there. The first day you get there, you take a test on a huge binder they give you a week in advance. You don't get an 85%, your on the first flight home, without refund. Dress code=full dark suits and ties, all day from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. you don't comply, you're out and they don't care. That's why they are the best every year.
 
Well here is the way I look at it, I wouldn't wear a uniform for flight training nor would I choose ATP if the requirements stated I had to wear a uniform. I finished up the ATP program a few months back on my jet ride I talked with Phil about the whole uniform rumor, he told me that management didn’t want the uniforms but had no other choice. The only reasons for the uniforms are the tools that show up in t-shirts, cutoff shorts, beanies, and sandals. If people would have only showed common sense and dressed appropriately ATP wouldn’t be forcing everyone to wear a monkey suit. Just remember you’re the paying customer if you don’t want to wear a uniform speak with your money, call and let them know you don’t want to wear a uniform and see if they want to work something out if not DON’T sign up. It’s pretty simple you should be expected to dress in a certain manner but not have your attire dictated for you, if ATP wants to start paying people to attend then they have the right to pick out your attire.

BTW I loved the whole program…. But wouldn’t stand for wearing a uniform, I have a common sense level that allows me to dress myself in the proper attire for the situation

Money makes the world go round... how much you wanna bet that if this uniform policy started hurting the bottom line it would be yanked?

Sure Harvard will take a moron with enough money... or better yet just make a large donation and get an honorary degree if Harvard won’t do it shop around….
 
Looks like the only ones required to wear uniforms are the instructors. I was at the HEF location and those instructors were wearing dark blue collared shirt with ATP embroidery and black slacks. Very sporty looking. It beats the hell out of white shirt, tie and epaulettes.

Excellent decision ATP! Like the new look.

Stole my thunder. You cant compare a flight school with an Ivy league school. Im not sure if Harvard even has a dress code. If you dont want to wear the uni...then dont. You are the customer of their buisness. I will bet my yearly salary they wont kick you and your 50 large out. It is stupid to make someone drive around a seminole in the summer in a uniform.
