Just receive a call from ATP and he left a message and said that the price is going to increase by $5000 more. I was planning to go there but after I heard the increase, ah no-no.:banghead:

YIKES!:panic:

So if anyone is going to attend, they should attend now to keep the price the same. Like $54,995.

After July 1st, it would increase to $59,995.

Ouch. Will they have anyone attending with these prices?? At around 150 hours total (including 10 SE) that comes out to around $400/hr. Obviously there are other expenses like housing and the CRJ course but day-amn.

Im gonna laugh when in a few months this industry bottoms out, and ATPs student enrollment drops with it. The ATP ACPP really only works when airlines are hiring, otherwise whats the point in fast paced...

Another wise move by Jim, Phil and the masterminds..... I mean the fact that a normal seminole rents for less then 200 an hour anywhere else..... But yup the education I recieve from ATP is why I am willing to spend 60k on my IRA-MEI.... Oh but wait we have so many people droping out and not even doing their CFI's so they will then pay 57 k for IRA-CMEL when they could have gone to an FBO and get all the same for around 20k-25k if you dont get your CFI's.... ARGH!

And I thought $34,995 was a lot back in 05!

I won's say that the masterminds at ATP haven't thought about sinking demand for their product when the industry stops hiring but isn't a 15k increase in price in a matter of 1 1/2 years a litte rediculous? I mean lets see some recent events:

Expressjet-not hiring
Sky West-not hiring
Air Wisco- not hiring

and overall hiring starting down. The remaining regionals that are hiring are only requiring a ME commercial rating!!
I suppose there were a lot of people who thought ATP was overpriced when it was "only" 36k. Or maybe at this point it is a lower volume higher price thing. I think we can assume that with the implementation of D-jets later next year that the price will increase again. I hate to say it but ATP is on a fast track to become another Jet U. I wanted so badly to go to ATP but I'm really glad now that I didn't. 90 days is meaningless if you can't get a job at the end of it.

Wow and I only spent $25,000 for 250 hours and my CSEL, CFI, and II where I work at now :)

Closer to $30,000 if you included all the other expenses plus I was receiving an education beyond aviation!

Sooooo glad I got out of ATP...

$400 an hr for the seminole?

I am in a brand new (08) all glass diamond twinstar doing ME COM for 325 an hr!

Air Wisco- not hiring

They are hiring. My friend started class on March 3rd, and there are 3 classes behind him. It seems from what he has told us that 500/125 (the minimums) are not competitive anymore unless you know someone who can walk in the resume.

With this new price increase, ATP now costs approximately $70,000 for private through MEI ratings.

I still have a feeling that people will continue to sign up. I continually try to educate new people that they could get their ratings at their local FBO for about $35,000 or so. Why burn $64,000 (the old price) at ATP? Yet there was still a line of newbies who thought ATP was the greatest thing since sliced bread. I don't think ATP will loose too many students due to this $5,000 price increase. ATP has some great marketing, and they do a great job at convincing people to burn tons of money on their program.

I don't have anything against ATP's training. I just think they are way overpriced. $400 an hour for safety pilot time is out of control. Since most multi's are about $200/hr, splitting time as a safety pilot is normally about $100/hr. No need to pay the $400/hr at ATP. It is not worth it. With ATP's new price tag of approximately $70,000, they are now twice the price of typical local FBO training.

The whole reason why they let you know that the price is going up is to secure a bunch more students with start dates ASAP. (Make sure to get in before the price increase!) It really seems to be a marketing tool if you ask me.

Wow. . .

No surprise though.

At $400 an hour, I'd rather fly much newer equipment. ;)
Don't forget that about 35-40 of that is safety pilot time so they get to double dip and charge both parties for every 1 hour of engine running time, so its like $800/hr for them for the XCs.

Just another example of how hard it is these days to remain motivated to become an airline pilot.

With the costs for training going up as much as they are and the demand for pilots starting to dwindle, I am seriously re-thinking my career choice.

You can still do it...Just have a retirement first. I recommend the military - USAF soon to retire after 20 years and looking forward to it...:-)

BTW, I'm no longer supporting ATP.

Can we get a list of people to stand in the parking lot of ATP sites and slap the crap out of people walking in and out of the door.

I'm not even trying to fly for a living and it pisses me off at the price they charge and how much it has gone up in the past few years. I remember looking at them back in '03 when I was considering making the jump....I thought they were expensive back then.
