ATP Mistake

[ QUOTE ]
LC and Flying Turkey don't like me very much for some reason. One called me Pond Scum and the other thought I sit naked in a beanbag chair and eat Cheeto's when I post.

What's funny about that is...I really do have a beanbag chair. It looks like a big orange basketball. Pretty cool. And I even sit in it naked sometimes...but I hate Cheeto's.

That beanbag chair line makes me laugh everytime I hear/read it!!! Ron White is a riot!!

If ATP only "teaches to the test," then why do they seem to have such a good reputation in the industry? I'm not trying to be a jerk asking that, I genuinely want to know.

I think a big part of the learning process falls on the student. ESPECIALLY when you're getting everything in 90 days. At least thats how I think of it, but I'm on the outside looking in.

They deliver what they say they will.

As far as I am concerned, ATP is the only school that delivers what they say. They have the best rep, and that can be seen with all their airline placements. No other school can compare! Thay also have the best training. They train like the airlines train, that is why they are so successful!

Somebody needs to take their medication.....

Here's my take on ATP, after having completed the 90 day program this past summer................there's a lot of personal responsibility that has to be taken for your own training. So what if they only teach to the checkride, take it upon yourself to fill in the other information they don't teach! If you're gonna get through all those checkrides in 90 days, they don't have time to spoon-feed you the extraneous stuff. They do what they say, they get you the ratings in 90 days. If you want to be a more competent pilot than just passing the checkride, it's up to you. I went there with that mindset, passed every checkride 1st shot, and came out of the program with all the ratings AND all the knowledge I needed, because I took it upon myself to learn what I needed to know. I just recently completed a week-long 135 ground school, and was amazed at how much time we spent being spoon-fed the info, stuff that I could've (and in my opinion, SHOULD have) been able to learn on my own at home. Bottom line, all the people complaining about schools teaching to a checkride, big deal! Take personal responsibility for the knowledge you need to have, and it doesn't matter if they only teach to a checkride.

I'm guessing you're asking me where I got hired? It's a company called Package Express out of Concord, NC. The usual suspect, hauling checks and other time-sensitive freight. Fly Lance/Cherokee 6 then upgrade to Senecas and 402's in about 3-4 months. They're talking about going to an all multi fleet soon though, which will be nice. As well as doing more on-demand stuff, with an MU2. If you fly around the southeast, and ever hear the Race City callsign, that's us.
