ATP loses a Seminole

Looks like ATP lost one of its Seminoles this afternoon to a tornado that struck SUA. I was watching the local news, WPEC-12, a CBS affiliate, and saw the crane lifting the Seminole to a flatbed truck I believe. Not to sure. I did see it hoisted in the air though. Glad no one was hurt.

Yeah I heard about that as well. I took a look at the radar after I heard about it and the weather was about as nasty as it could have been down there.

when did this happen? i remember seeing some news a few days
ago about tornado watches, but that was up here in virginia and
north carolina i think. maybe it was around the same time.
anyone at stuart know which plane it was?

It happened yesterday around 4pm. We had a warm front lifting to the north and it bought some of the most severe thunderstorms so far this season. Now, we have an approaching cold front that has spawned tornadoes in the Tallahassee area. Warning & watches are being issued as the front progresses.

Looks like another afternoon of turbulent weather.

Wow, that sucks. I have two entries in my log book in that plane from Feb of '07. It was a good one. Too bad it wasn't Chicken Killer or 2122D...either of those could go away and I wouldn't mind.

Chicken Killer??? Is there a story behind this? :D
And most people here think I'm insane when I prefer to fly some airplanes over others.

The tail number ended in charlie Kilo, and supposedly it almost had a bird strike with some chickens that were crossing the runway during one of its x-country flights (probably out in the midwest somewhere.)
For some reason no matter how many times it was take out on a X-country, it always found its way back to Riverside.

721Charlie Kilo. I thought I had heard it did have a bird strike. Could have been a tall tale by the time I heard it, though. We picked it up in Riverside, took it as far as El Paso, then gave it to another couple guys who promptly killed an alternator.

2122D is definitely the top of my no-fly list. Anyone know if that thing is still around?

There's definitely a difference in airplanes. Every fleet I've ever flown there have been good ones and bad ones.

I personally thought 721CK was a good plane. It wasnt much worse than the others. 216FW might have a rank smell for the rest of its life, and thats all Im going to say about that.

I just realized I have 22.1 hours logged in 2200T. If I remember correctly, she was a pretty good plane.

HAHA, where did you hear that? I am going to guess the Big Till told you that story. We started calling it chicken killer back on 03 just because it ended in CK. It never killed any chickens to earn that name. At least none that I was aware of. Though I am sure its had its share of bird strikes just like any other plane. Everyone hated that plane because If you let go of the yoke in flight it would bank hard right. Perfect for IR training i guess.

I remember the FWs came online late 03 or early 04. hHere are 2 of them right?
