Hey I'm going into my ATP interview next week. What were the questions like? I'm going to fly a sim tomorrow to get used that virtual flying. What areas should I be studying. I got my private last year but haven't flown a lot on the last year so i'm a little rusty. what should I prepare??

Just be familiar with basic PPL knowledge, ie weather, airspace, etc.

Also know your systems of whatever you fly

1. A Commercial pilot may exercise the privileges of second-class medical for how long?
2. What certificates and documents must a pilot have on his or her person in order to fly?
3. List the documents used to determine the airworthiness of an aircraft?
4. If you where to receive a flashing red ATC light gun signal while airborne, you should do which of the following?
5. What does a flashing white ATC light gun signal on the ground mean?
6. Where on the airport would you expect ATC light gun signals to be coming from?
7. In a standard traffic pattern, all turns should be made to the:
8. Which of the following is the recommended traffic pattern entry procedure at an uncontrolled airport?
9. If you where to observe a rotating beacon with two white flashes followed by a green flash, this would indicate:
10. How would you activate pilot controlled lighting at a particular airfield?
11. Above what altitude must a pilot supply his passengers with supplemental oxygen?
12. When attempting to see an object at night, a pilot should do which of the following?
13. What equipment is required for operations inside a Class B?
14. What are the VFR clouds clearances in uncontrolled airspace within 1200 feet of the surface?
15. While flying at the Vx airspeed you can expect?
16. What is the definition of Vyse?
17. When should a pilot exceed Vno?
18. True or False: The unicom freq. for an uncontrolled field can be found on the VFR sectional chart.
19. Which of these is not a characteristic of stable air?
20. Which NOTAM provides information about taxiway closures at an airport?
21. What equipment is required to receive a DF steer from flight service?
22. Write the engine out procedures for a generic piston twin-engine airplane:
23. What are the basic VFR WX minimums to depart Class D airport?
24. What is the definition of Va?
25. How many spark plugs does a standard 4-cylinder piston engine have?

I wouldnt bother renting a sim to practice on or anything. The interview isnt taken to seriously. The CFIs at my location used to put applicants in the sim with a 40 knot crosswind to see how they would do haha.

They're looking for you to demonstrate that you can handle an accelerated flight training program. Airman knowledge from the questions v1valarob posted as well as your overall demeanor.

I finishede my initial interview yesterday. Took the 25 question test and missed 3 questions on that. Then did a little oral exam and then flew the sim. The ATP CRJ course instructor called me today to ask me some more airplane questions for a 2nd interview. I did fine on all of that so I'm looking to put in my deposit soon. V1valarob the 25 question test now that I'm looking at it was the EXACT same one you posted here. Now I feel bad for missing ANY questions!! anyway. I should be starting in FEb.

Hello all, new to this forum. I was wondering about question number 3. Are they looking for aircraft engine and aircraft maintenance log as an answer? Or are they looking for specific items found in such logs such as transponder checks, ELT check, annual, 100 hour (if applicable) etc.? Just curious.

Thanks!

I was always looking for ARROW. And the people I gave the test to always answered ARROW.

You could always write "mx records" as well, or all of them if you're really ambitious. :)

Great, thanks! I thought about ARROW as well. I guess the way the question is phrased is what threw me off. Appreciate your help!;)

...will they actually not allow you to enter the program if you fail the interview???

I thought the requirment was a pulse, and a good FICO barring that the ability to get $70g's to pay for your training!
