Fair enough...
When I got my ATP in Long Beach in the mid-80's (still not sure of the connection to the present day ATP). I had two flights prior to the checkride and each were EXACTLY flown to known profile of the on staff examiner, Abe Pastor.
Prior to the checkride, I was told that if I paid the fee for the MEI course (it was $699, as I recall) I could combine the ATP ride with the MEI ride and walk away with both ratings.
Seemed like a good deal to me and I've had a MEI ever since. Never used it, though (I think that's about to change).
The ride was a ATP checkride. I was never in the right seat nor asked anything about MEI stuff. Guess it was legit, though...
As to "bashing ATP". I'd like to make it clear that I'm only bashing the 90 day program. Do a search as to why. I got no problem with the place, outside of that, other than some marketing/website stuff.
That said, if the current day ATP is teaching the checkride and doing min standards like the place I got my ATP, then it's nothing more than a min standards pilot factory.
Not that there's anything wrong with that.....(sarcasm).....
