ATP Flight School CE501

Does anyone know if any other big name flight schools does jet transitioning in an actual jet and not just a simulator? or is it just ATP? I'm trying to decide where I wan't to go and ATP is winning my vote without the jet transitioning that just adds even more to it.

Excuse me...but aren't you 14? It's kinda waaay to early to decide "where you are going to go". I'd worry about getting through high school and getting your PPL along the way. Where to go for advaced training could be 10 years away for you. By then, ATP could be out of business....or be the next Tab Express....you'll just have to wait and see.

Ask us again when you're a senior....

He's 14 I believe. I agree with you Don.

Don't worry about some citation jet that a school has. Focus more on getting through school and enjoying your young life. You have a ton of time ahead of you why make all these big life changing decisions so early on in your life. You are only limiting yourself. I understand that people like to have a plan of attack, but come on planning 5 to 6 years down the road. Its good to have a goal set, but keep your mind open and just absorb info and learn.

I think that you should focus on having fun and getting through highschool. Then get a degree, and enjoy college. I'm also a newly convert to the FBO route. I say get your licenses as you have money. You have so much time ahead of you, a good 8 years of school, get a job and save your money up. Work on your flying while going to school. I don't understand why you are already thinking ahead of doing some accelerated program where in most cases you have to take out an ungodly amount of money. From the little life experience that I have accumulated, having a loan to pay sucks!

Worry about the things that are most important to you right now. Like school and enjoy your youth.

I'll shut up now. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I'd agree with DE727UPS that 14 is a little young to pick a flight school... your decisions will most likely change a lot as the years go on. To answer your question though, ATP is the only school that has a jet transition program that I have ever seen.

"Jet Transition"?? I like ATP as a school and think they do a pretty good job, but the whole "Jet Transition" thing is really lame. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/banghead.gif What the hell is that? (rhetorical question) /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Yeah, they let you fly a jet which is cool - but in the big pitcher it is not going to get you hired.

CJ~

I'd have to agree to the fellow posts regarding your decision on where to go to flight school. I'm young as well but not nearly as young as 15, definately enjoy your youth, high-school and learn everything you can about aviation. So I'm only 23 but have learned some things on the way ... if you have the funds available, try and get your PPL at 17 and work on building hours or advancing your certificates or ratings through a local FBO. (Note to self ... having your PPL is a good way to pick up girls) but that's not what's most important. Good to see that your working out a plan of action for your future though ... everything comes in steps. Best of Luck.

My flight partner and I just did our jet ride on Friday. On one hand it was really cool.... on the other hand there are five fingers. Anyhow, I am going to agree with what everyone else has said. First off you have a ways to go before you are going to be starting and secondly, while yes, flying the jet is a good experience, the experience I have gained flying the cross countries has been fair more productive and a huge confidence builder. We took the jet from CRG up to the Hampton roads area and while we did learn stuff the thing is you only get 3 hours in a it and that is no where near enough time to actually learn much. The only real thing that you learn is the high altitude stuff. There ya go. My somewhat scatttered .02

Sure, much the same way a TRS80 is good practice for an IT professional. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/insane.gif

I agree with all the above posts. A few hours in ANY jet is great experience for someone close to breaking into a "real" job. But for someone below Com/Multi, or MEI, with 2000+, it is TOTALLY worthless.
