I have 121 experience too.
When I was furloughed from the regionals i went back to my engineering career, which pays too much to leave but is ultimately soul-sucking.
What's out there?
Thanks,
IMO, nothing good yet. From my outside-looking-in entrant's perspective, nobody's raised pay, regionals are scaling back operations a bit, and some are even looking for concessions from their pilot groups.
135 side, we're not seeing any
significant improvements in pay yet, and we definitely
seem to be seeing a QOL decline across-the-board.
I did the flying I wanted to do, rather than chasing money. Now I want to do a different kind of flying, but I'm still not chasing money. I also came from an engineering background (systems architect), and I'm still having fun... but YMMV. No real improvements that I've seen, though.
(I don't consider a $10k bonus to be any sort of 'improvement', when that $10k is 1/3 of what you're making for the entire year and binds you under non-negotiable terms)
Freelance CFI on the side, depending on your area, can be a decent supplement, money-wise.
