I flew out there last month in a 172 and believe me, if I could have a job out there I would, but I'm still working for the little bucks to get that commercial ticket.
I think soaring out by the phoenix area would be AMAZING.
california is by far one of the most beautiful states I've seen. Surprisingly west texas and arizona were very nice as well.
I want to go to Idaho and Ohio in those crazy back country strips... That would be fun

Too bad it doesn't do well in the "individual freedom" or "fiscally solvent" categories...so not a great place to call home if that's something you care about.
