ATP 150 day Fast Track

I was just pointing out that I don't always just fly the pattern.

of course Aerobatic time isn't a different column in the book, but it sure as heck requires a non conventional instructor, and a not so common rental. (aka, not a 172/warrior/152)

Hey Derek,

First and foremost good stuff ultimately you decide your own path and well you have a lot of good people on this forum who could make an attempt to guide you in the right direction. Try not to take anything personal everything for the most part is constructive. Me on the other hand I took about 1 year to look around and choose my flight school. Which as of today I'm very content and feel couldn't have made a better choice for my particular goals. I went with a local FBO instead of an ATP or Flight Safety for more reasons than just money (*which is the biggest factor*). I'm actually going to a local FBO here in Ft. Lauderdale and am flying at least 3 times a week and making the most of the money I saved up for flight training. If you need anything or any advice just PM me and I will help you out.

Keep in mind these factors to look for

Money
Maintenance
**Instructors**
Check out the flight line

Always get a tour of the place and everybody will make promises crap I have a flight school offering me from 0 - Commercial for 24k imagine that! Sounds great huh! but nope I left running.

Goodluck

I have glider time, LSA time, ASEL time, aerobatic time, and the list goes on. Sure this only means two columns, ASEL and glider, but at the end of the day I can look back and say: "Hmm I'm not drowning in debt, and at 250 I won't be hired for a job that requires multi time anyway..."

regionals are looking for 1000/100.

250/200 gets you the SAME job 250/0 would get. The only thing you might have a leg up on is MEI, but most places that do multi instructing will have loads of people in front of you for instructing in multis.

Get out of the basement sometime. The sun is a beautiful thing.

I have no debt from flying. Not a penny. 2nd time I've said this in the thread.

I wouldn't even have to fly another twin and I would meet (multi) minimums at multiple airlines. And like you will find out it's much easier for me to log 800 hours of tt that it will be for you to log 100 hours of multi. I actually flew with a CFI that was in that same place on my X/C flights. Guy had over 1000 hours but just purchased 80+ hours from ATP to meet hiring minimums. Want me to get you his email?

Let me know how the "aerobatic" time works out..lol... as far as the MEI thing... turns out ATP is a good place to build multi as an instructor...you keep flying gliders and LSA's..

I think you need to wake up, ATP is not perfect but you are comparing the few things ATP is really good at (multi, and getting a job as an instructor) to "LSA and glider time"...

The biggest load that I've ever been fed came form a mom-and-pop flight school... guy told me with a straight face that he would have me in, "the left seat of a 777 in 5 years" (I laughed out loud), and ATP had "fake multi"... sounds like those lines might have worked on one guy.

Guys, let's (try to) keep it between the lines here.
Grind... Grind.. Grind..
It's grindtastic!

OP:
I wont go full time!! I will only do partial time seeing as it will be a while for me to even be thinking about making it in the Majors and plus I have already finished all my general studies classes at a local community school that are transferable to most schools around the country!!
To be clear, you are going to get a four year degree sometime, right?

Yes that is what I am definately going to do!! Like I said early I have almost all my General Studies done for college and transferrable!! The actual number of credits I think are somewhere around 35-40!!

Thats a new one, a pilot laughing at another pilot for having experience in different types of flying....

Thats good stuff.

Dont take what I was saying earlier as you making the wrong decision, it is different for each person. If you are comfortable with your decision, which you obviously are, then you are in the right place. Work hard, ask all the questions you can think of and most importantly have fun.

This flying thing is a journey, dont get to focused on the destination because the ride is awesome.

You're gonna have the best few months of your life man. I'd kill to be able to stay at the airport and wakeup and fly day after day...

That's awesome man! Good luck!

Best advice RUN AWAY from ATP! But since your already committed good luck! Its good that ATP finally realized that the program takes longer than 90 days to complete. Your 150 day program is the same thing they were trying to do in 90 days. I guess they figured out that no one was completing the program in 90 days. Its because they teach such crap that they could even attempt to do it in 90 days.

Hey man dont pay attention to the people that bash ATP. I did my PVT and Instrument at my local airports and went to ATP to get my multi add on and ATP has been my best experience. I was at GKY last month and Jeremy and the crew exceeded my expectations. They were very professional and I loved the fact that everyone there is career minded where an FBO has its old timers that will talk your ear off about flying their 152. The programs are fast paced and you will have to study study study. You will not regret going to ATP!

Since you are planning on going to college I highly suggest Mountain State University. They have a partnership with ATP and if you have all of your general studies done you sholdnt need more that 3 semesters of class and you will have your bachelors degree. Good luck with the program! You will enjoy ATP and your time at GKY!

Because the airlines are the only career you can make out of flying right!!!!!!?

I hear they are great for Multi addons and CFI/II/MEI though.
