Atlanta

Not sure if this is in the appropriate forum, so I apologize in advance if it's not...

Anyways...I will be flying my first trip in the King Air (right seat) on Thursday down to Atlanta, GA. I will be there from Thursday (6/9) - Saturday (6/11).
The Captain I am flying with just purchased a new home, and will be moving in on Thursday and Friday, so he is airlining back to Connecticut as soon as we land, and returning back to Atlanta on Saturday for us to fly back to Connecticut. So that leaves me in Atlanta for two nights myself. I've never been to the city, and don't know the area, but I was wondering if there are any members from JC that live in the city or the general area that would be interested in getting together for some beers. Furthermore, are there any cool places in the city that I should check out? Additionally, anywhere in the city I should make sure to stay away from?

Thanks

He should pay us to have that picture taken with him....

I have changed my fee. A pint of Guiness will get you a photo with Doug Taylor. I had the carboard cutout of him strapped to the roof this morning coming to work, I got some strange looks.

I'd like one of those stickers like "Andre the Giant Has A Posse" instead of a cut out! :)

I though Atlanta was a nice city until I had my car stolen at Red Roof on my second day in training. I had about 40 percent of what I owned stolen due to the fact I had just moved from college and my old CFI job. Later on in training, one of my buddies in my new hire class had 800 dollars worth of stuff taken out of his truck, which was parked inside the gloriously gated Westin parking lot. In addition, in 2 people in the next new hire class were robbed at gunpoint in East Point. But other than that Atlanta is just fine.

When I am in Atlanta I like to hang around Virginia Highlands, some good bars, restaurants, Surin of Thailand if you like thai, there is a pizza spot that has some good specials (usually cheap beer and pizza) good pubs, just all in all a pretty good neighborhood to hang out.....

My Atlanta friends-sorry "AT-lannuh" always say the city is about the neighborhoods, it seems it really is, Candler Park is kind of cool, Buckhead is more young urban hipster if you like the club scene, just get out and check 'em out, it is a pretty diverse place.
