ATC Question

I was flying back from Minneapolis to Denver last night and I have heard this before and I was wondering what/who is "cactus" when ATC contacts "cactus xyz". Anyone care enlighten the noob?

Yeah it appears so. THere are lots of questionable ones. TWA, Redbird?? TWA is what I always heard as TWA callsign. But yeah, SUnCountry, is SunCountry on the radio...As for Sunshine, the only thing I can guess is AirSunshine in Florida, who callsign is there name, and Im sure shortned from time to time.
