ATC cancelled my IFR while airborn

You may be on to something! Next time they try to put another southwest jet in front of me, emergency it is! :D
"SkW 6324 slow to 180 and vector for sequence"

We are declaring an EMERGENCY at this time...

"describe the nature of your emergency and souls onboard"

"waaaaaaaaaaaaaa! i don't want to do what you said waaaaaaaaaaa!"

I'm sorry but this seems funny to me at home, after the day I've had...:rotfl:

I've occasionally had to use this phrase when given long re-routes or holds with EFC of 30 minutes or more....

"Be advised that I will be declaring minimum fuel in xx minutes"

Usually the controllers understand. GA pilots cannot be expected to fly with 2 hours of extra fuel on board beyond that required for the regs. Prior to xx minutes, I am on my way and happy. Granted I like to have plenty of fuel but sometimes that is all she holds....

BTW - I posted the previous post on challenges with KSLC controllers. I do think there is an issue in KSLC. The airliners clearly receive preferential treatment. I was alway taught that, once in the system, controller services as on a "first come, first serve" basis and that controllers should treat GA and airliners equally. Seemed to work in the Bay Area. Frustrating that it doesn't seem to work in KSLC.

You are right, it should be prioritized based on who's first in the system...and Salt Lake Approach and Center have terrible relations from what I have heard.

Honestly, I have nearly had to call min fuel due to vectoring, in the Bay Area.

I have never had them cancel me while I am on an IFR flight plan, and if your fuel should get you there when you leave, then they should figure out a way to get you there based on the distance (time enroute) of your original clearance.

I was having a little fun some of the overdramatic antics, but that's why I love this place:pirate:

i have a hard time believing that SLC (or S56) just flat out canceled someones IFR flight plan because they didn't wanna deal with them.

Their wording, not mine.

But I agree with some of these previous posts, I thought as well that it was a first come first serve, though I think all of us that have flown in congested airspace in a small airplane have had some vectoring stuff done to keep the airlines and fast moving a/c on track, and I'm understanding and fine with that; I'm low and slow. But I know I've flown into some major airports to look at some Piper Malibu's with the boss, and those controllers have been amazing. The occasional "XXX be advised a G5 is going to pass you on the right. Maintain best forward speed, there's a 757 that is number 3." (G5=1 Me=2 757=3) Anything can be done with professionalism, and I agree that it appears SLC has an issue with smaller a/c. That's pretty much the answer I was curious about, was there something *I* did/"shoulda did", or something else.
