Just a heads up for everyone!!! Still no public announcement, but we have all been told (me several times by several people) that a public announcement should open end of Feb./beginning of March, so maybe this week or next Monday!!!

Please post any additional info you might have regarding NEW announcement openings!! Thanks everyone!!

I just saw those today. What is the CTO mean? It says that "All sources" may apply. Hoping for the PUBNAT soon!

On a side note what happen with you not getting selected on 2/9? Your test score looks really good. Was is that your geopref's were staffed full already or what? What happens now do you get to pick other places?
 
Oh Jamin....I just don't know what to say.

Where have you been?! I can tell that you have not been reading the forums. Almost no one was selected. There is no room in the budget to hire all the much needed ATCs that they have been posting all the PUBNATs for.

I don't really want to be a flamer...but I just have to be one of those people that warns you that while there might not be any stupid questions...there are plenty of questions that make you look stupid.
 
CTO = Control Tower Operator

Unless you're certified, don't apply. Anyone that's certified can apply; that's why it says, "All sources may apply." It doesn't matter where you are as long as you have the CTO requirement.

Let them (newbies or whatever) ask the questions and if you don't want to answer then do just that...don't answer! No need to claim not wanting to flame then doing just that!

I think it has been discussed more than once that questions get asked more than once. Not everyone has a million hours to go through all the old threads and read up on everything immediately :)

BTW - Jamin as you get time do go through and search. There is a LOT of good info on here for you!

Jamin always comes back like... "what did i miss.." and asks lame questions. Cuz he/she never looks. We have threads to answer the questions he/she asks, so I think WoH is doing alright. Even if I didn't come here for 2 weeks, I'd still know where to look. All the good threads are **OFFICIAL**. :)

I really dont mean to piss everyone off :confused:. I was just asking chrismlee12 about his/her situation and why the bad news. I have read all sorts of different information from many many different posts and who knows what to believe anymore. Sorry to upset everyone! I will just keep quite and sit in my corner from now on.:o
 
There are kinder ways of helping other than saying, "I don't mean to flame...but". If a person is always coming on and asking, "what did I miss" everyone can choose to ignore that person. If they are sick of always having to read said person's questions, they can put them on their "ignore" list (found in your personal settings). Honestly there is no reason to chew someone out for asking the question.

Doug was in one of these threads several months ago and people were complaining about the same question being asked over and over (I think this was before the different ATC areas were formed and it was all in just one area). He told them that the same thing happens in the airline/general aviation area. The people may get annoyed but they can just choose to ignore the question. No one is forcing you to answer.

It was said that if you know the answer give it, if it is being covered in a current thread 5 down, point that out and direct them there. Things move fast and these threads are hard to keep on top of EVERYTHING covered, most threads are pages long and the last page may have absolutely NOTHING to do with what the title says.

I don't think that any one member should be chewed out for asking a question. Afterall, the whole purpose of the board is to be able to ask questions. If you are noticing one person over and over asking for updates and you have suggested the search function to no avail I guess you could ask the mods to please inform them that the search button needs to be used.

There would be no answers on here if everyone had the view of questions were a bad thing.
 
2-way street folks:

1. No need to flame, ignore a question you don't like.

2. By the same token for those asking questions, use the freaking search function or check what's a sticky topic first, or check the past few pages of a thread.

...if No joy, THEN ask.

well ill be the kind gentlemen to acually answer the question...

UT aND CO were a favorite in ubnat1 and 2. I would't be surprised if they were full up. especially after pubnat3/4 focused on AK and LA

if you were planning on foing to UT or CO, be prepared for a nasty wait!:(
 
I really hate to ask this and risk being flamed, but I did actuallyl try the search function and did not find a satisfactory answer. Here goes: I chose 2 states (GA and FL) on my app. The truth is, I would take just about any state. Since I had to choose only 2, does that mean I will not be considered for any others? Are the referral lists posted on ASAP? Thanks.

You are only considered for the two states you select, unless they discover a heavy shortage like they did with Louisiana. In that case, some of those not picked up in PUBNAT2 were asked if they would be willing to go to Louisiana. If so, they were back in the selection process.

The "referral list" is not posted on ASAP. All you will know is that one was generated. Here is the message you will see, only PUBNAT4 will be replaced with your announcement group:

Referral list FA-AAC-09-18019: Issued on 01/08/2009 for the Throughout The Nation duty location at the FG-1 grade/payband.
  • Your application is among those being reviewed by the office with announcement # AAC-AMH-08-PUBNAT4-09989. You may or may not be contacted for an interview. Please continue to check back for status updates.

And after that, there is no need to check back for any status updates on ASAP, because that's the last thing you'll see. From there on out, all communication is done by e-mail.
 
Yes you only pick and are considered for two states. There has been debate (because we have never gotten a straight answer) about whether these states are considered equally, or if the first choice is given more weight.

There is a comment section where you can give additional information. Many people put "Willing to relocate throughout the nation", "Open to any state" etc. Some people list the specific facilities or counties that they wish to work in. There is also some debate (same reason) as to which of these comments is best. Some say they never even look at the comments, but some have also been selected for just the facility they listed. At any rate...keep them short and sweet.

I'm trying to decide if you should somehow say "throughout the world" or "nation AND territories" since that is not assumed.

Sorry for not replying earlier Jamin.

I was not selected, and this is straight from the head of Western En Routes, because while they were planning on hiring 200 new people for the western En Route Facilities from PUBNAT's 3 and 4, budget cuts only allopwed them to hire 60!!! This meant only the places MOST in need got people (Oakland and Denver). NO ONE was selcted for LA, Seattle or SLC. The only reason i wasnt selected for Denver was becuase it was my 2nd choice and they had enough HIGH SCORING 1st choices to snatch up. I was told to apply again and that I should have no problem eventually getting in because of my score but i would need to reapply with the next PUBNAT which will be different from here on out!! She said they've changed it so you only have to apply to 1 PER YEAR!!! So no applying to 6 different listings hoping to get into one of them! I have been keeping my eye out for the new public listing, hopefully next Monday it will come out!!! I will be keeping my fingers crossed!!!!

Heh, you've talked to her too, eh? Yeah, she told me the same thing... and I had put done ZSE as my first choice. And, just like you said, got passed over...
 
Yes...I too am waiting. Passed over for CO and CA.

Which is why I secretly hate this thread. Every time I see it I either think "Oh! A new thread! The PUBNAT is out!" or if I remember that it's an old thread "Oh! A new post! The PUBNAT is out!"

And it never is...:(

I know I'm sorry... I keep checking for the new PUBNAT but no luck yet. The vet and CTI postings have now been out for 2 weeks, so i figured they would have opened a public one today, but I guess I was wrong. I will keep checking and if anyone speaks with someone in OKC about a new posting and has some good info PLEASE share it with us here!!!!
 
I have heard they put a stop on the PUBNAT for a while. And since I don't have a link or a hard source to confirm it, take it as rumor only.

Back to the CTI grind for me.

I called the FAA Aviation Career Division this morning to find out any info on the next pubnat; below is a rough idea of our conversation, but the bigfoot portion is real.

Me: So when can we expect the next PUBNAT?
Them: We've heard around the time of July
Me: And how certain are you of this timeframe?
Them: (he really said this) Do you believe in bigfoot?
Me: :confused:
Them: Thats how certain it is...
