(yes, I misspelled that on purpose. It's a rumot at JC, right?)

Was on the last ATA flight out of MDW to DFW last night (about 15-20 pax total) and was chatting with the FA. She told me that ATA just bought 7 DC-10s that they're going to be using for a lot of troop ferrying, and with other expansion they're going to be calling some pilots back in January. She said the DC-10s would need at least 70 pilots alone. Not sure what that means in terms of upgrades, staffing, etc, but I thought I'd pass it along.

She also told me that like SWA, their 737 pilots had to have a type rating coming in. Surprised me that she knew that, but maybe she was just guessing. I dunno.

There you go. You now know what I was told.

I should have been clearer. She said there would be recalls AND that they would be hiring in January. I don't know if she's right or not.

close to 400 furloughees.

Keep in mind that a good number of those were relatively recent, so they may not have found good work yet and would be more likely to accept recall
