I just took my test yesterday (04/01/08) in Holtsville, NY....if anyone has any questions about the test i will gladly give as much as i can. ask while its still fresh...i also used the Air Traffic Control Prep Book so if can tell you what is the same and what is different. ill let you know what i get when its posted in a few days...

i got my test scores lat night....less than a day and a half later....i got a 96.3%....if you have any questions about the test just ask...

Can you describe the scan portion of the test? I'm having a bit of a problem with the test prep software that comes with that green book.

Also are the analogies as difficult as everyone makes them out to be?

The scan part is easy. You get a bunch of units on the screen moving around for a period of time. They are call letters, and underneath numbers between 100-999. You are given a range. If you are given 200-300, and on the screen you have N37/250, N58/350, N78/800, you would type in 58, 78 etc..... You type in the numbers falling OUTSIDE of the range. Learn to use the num pad, it helps a lot!
I had a hard time with analogies. I think I was ready to finish up the test, and wasn't thinking it through enough by that time. I believe the analogies section is the reason I got the score I did (82). Other people on here though had no problem....
Good luck! When do you take the test? Did you download the update for the green book's software? http://www.asa2fly.com/Air-Traffic-Control-Career-Prep-P714_product1.aspx

i will have to agree with everything he said....the scan test is basically the same as the CD, but easier because it moves slower. the analogies test is definately hard, im not the best English student so the ones that had words i didnt know made it impossible for me. i definately think i did very bad on that, but i still got a 96.3. so i think if you do bad on that part you can still get a good grade. just make sure you are perfect on the other parts. definately download the update to the CD because it fixes a lot of problems. if you practice the Scan Test and ATST Test on the cd and can do it very well, then you will ace it on the test.

Hi -
I am new to the website. I just stumbled on the website last night, and am pissed (lol) that I didn't find it a few weeks ago. I applied with the annoucment in February, and take the AT-SAT on Thursday, 4/10. I bought Peterson's Master the AT-SAT. I think it helps alot, but, i would love any insight you can give me.
Particularly in the Applied Math section. I have the formulas down, i just wonder if it's going to be difficult not having paper & pen?

The math was pretty easy but practicing a little doesn't hurt. But if you can convert fractions to minutes pretty easily you'll be fine. Like 1/2 is 30 minutes, 1/3 is 20 and so on. Out of 25 questions there were 2 or 3 I wasn't sure I got right or not.

the math part is actually pretty easy. even without pen and paper. after a few seconds you can definately eliminate 3 of the 5 answers. then with a few more seconds you should be able to narrow the correct one down. just take your time and you will be fine. you do have a time limit, but you should be able to do it. the harderst part is the analogies, but just do your best at it and make sure you to great on the rest and you will be fine. did your prep book come with a CD? i got the one with the cd, and it definately helped me out a lot. the scan test is pretty easy, just make sure you are familiar with the keypad numbers. the ATST is also easy because the planes only move every 7 seconds so you have plenty of time to make decisions. the letter factory is pretty easy, the questions that pop up during the test (a series of 4 at a time) are pretty hard, but try to get atleast 2 of the 4 right. Letter Factory takes a lot out of you because its about 45 minutes and it never stops moving. i would suggest taking the lunch break they give you after the Letter Factory because the ATST test is next and that takes about 45 minutes and never stops as well....if you have any other questions just let me know...

How did you receive your AT-SAT results? Email, mail, website? The ASAP website doesn't even show that I've been selected to take the AT-SAT. I just got an email, and then called. And what is this "PEPC" everyone keeps talking about?

Yah same for me, I was notified by email and mail to take the test. But the results themselves I got on the ASAP website. The PEPC I believe is your interview and massive amounts of paperwork that you fill out after they select you from the referral lists that are created. I forgot what the initials stand for but I'm sure somebody can answer that.

For me, I didn't notice until after I took the test that I was selected to take it... I wasn't looking in the right place.

Unless there's a bug with yours, I think it should say when you first log in, before you click on the Applications tab or anything, under the white box with the warning messages. That's where it posted I was selected for the test, and also my score. Then it also posted my score on the User Information tab under the "Test Information" section.

Good luck. I missed that first screen- maybe others did too.

You are right!!! It's exactly where you said it would be! I always went to the applications tab! Interesting...I guess it pays to slow down and read everything. I will definitely make sure I take the time to read everything on Thursday when A take the test. Thanks!

Redz- good luck on the test- If you're familiar with the practice cd, I wrote a short comparison on the Practice vs. the real test here. Hope that helps.

Hello all... I am taking the test 4/28. I have a question on the scenario part. I have a laptop that I am running the practice software on... hooking a mouse and keyboard up for the obvious reason thay a 2 by 2 inch surface area for your finger is not condusive to learning how to do it. but is the actual exam with a mouse and side number pad keyboard? also about how long are the 4 or 5 sessions a piece? thanks

In Lisle, the computer was a laptop, but there was a full size monitor and keyboard with it. It was a regular mouse, and a numerical pad as well. They sections are all different, I can't remember off had how long they were.

the ATST test is about 45 minutes straight, and the same thing with the Letter Factory. The scan test is only 6 minutes i believe. (a little longer if you count the practice sessions). math is Twenty Something minutes, and so it the analogies. the dials is less time, but they are really easy. hardest part is the analogies, i didnt think i knew any of them, and i didnt even finish it, i left 3 unanswered due to time running out. they give you 46 questions in like 20 - 25 minutes....if you have any other questions just let me know...

for those of you who used the practice software and took the test already.. i was wondering how you personally did on the practice software specifically the lettler factory portion.
