I just scheduled my AT-SAT test date for early July. I am a private pilot that was working on instrument so this AT-SAT stuff is all new to me. I have been told that the green book is the way to go, but I also found Atcprep.com and am wondering if anybody has any recommendations on it. Its only $30 and I am told the software is better than the disk that comes with the green book. Have any of you used this? Thanks in advance for your help.

ATCprep is all you need. Don't bother doing their math section, its way too hard. Turn off the incorrect pilot readback on the AT Scenarios section and you'll be all set.

I used it twice, when I took the ATSAT in CTI and got a 100, and last year, when I took the ATSAT and got a mystery passing score. Its easily worth the money.

I second that recommendation for ATCPrep, it will be $30 well spent. The math section is indeed much harder than the real AT-SAT, unless they changed it. I took mine in 2013...went through the green book once but mostly focused on ATCPrep.

In terms of difficulty overall, how does this program compare to the actual AT-SAT? I just bought it and saw that I can set the difficulty in different levels.

The highest difficulty setting on the program is much much harder than anything you will see on the actual ATSAT. Its been a while but Im pretty sure I used the medium difficulty setting and it was more than enough. Just don't use the math, and turn off incorrect pilot read backs on AT Scenarios...that only happened once on the entire test for me and it happens like every other time on the training program.

Good luck with your ATSATs! Last big hurdle to getting to the Academy besides all the medical and psychological test hurdles.

How come when I am doing scenarios the planes are greyed out for so long and I can't give commands to them? They end up crashing with another plane or going off border and I get points deducted for it.

Congratulations, AJV!

I had begun to lose hope about passing the new Biographical Assessment and just heard today that I got selected for the AT-SAT.

I'm confused about the AT-SAT, because I read in a forum that they changed the format of that recently (but was wondering if they were mistaking the AT-SAT for the Biographical Assess.).

If it has changed in the last year or so, is this method of ATCPrep still going to be valid?

Has anyone taken the AT-SAT in the past year who has benefited from the ATCPrep?

@nabbyfan: Why do you recommend skipping the math section of ATCPrep? Is it because it's just too hard or for another reason?

Thank you all for your support and feedback!

I can't promise the ATSAT is the same as it was when I took it last year, but that was the 2nd time I had taken it and it was exactly the same as the first time I took it, minus the personality section at the end.

One word of caution is that it seems like a different company is doing the ATSAT this year versus Robinson Aviation, who administered the test the two times I took it. So I suppose it's possible that the test is different, but I haven't heard anything about it.

The math section on ATCprep is crazy difficult compared to the test. The test asks questions like "A plane has a ground speed of 300mph. How far does it go in 45 minutes? ". It's all multiple choice and pretty easy.

Good luck, I went through the whole OTS process last year and am willing to answer any questions on the way. It's a long crazy ride and it all starts over once you pass the academy and report to your facility!

I'm scheduled for the AT-SAT on June 15 so I'll let you all know if it would still be beneficial to buy the program in case your test is on a later date than mine.

That would be awesome. My date is July 6th. Any light you can shed would be a huge help. Good luck guys, hope we all make it through

I downloaded ATCprep and there is a section that gives you a series of numbers and has you fill in the last number.

For example 4 16 64 256 1024 4096 ?

This one isn't that difficult, but some of them are really tough to figure out. Is this on the AT-SAT? I can't find any info from anyone about something like this on the actual test. The software is saying it needs to be figured out in under 20 seconds, but I don't see how thats possible with some of the questions. Any help would be appreciated. I was freaking out a little when I saw this section.

Just finished taking the AT-SAT.
If you're using ATCPrep. For letter factory go with the harder setting. I used medium and always got 100% but in the actual test I was missing some stuff and they moved faster on some sections. For Scenarios, I think medium is a good setting. The math was really easy but they don't mention MPH, they use knots so don't get tripped up. The gauges test was very easy. The range test is good on medium setting too. The angles test just make sure you know how to estimate all the way to 360 degrees. Hard setting in ATCPrep for that one too. I was doing medium and it only went up to 180. The patterns test was where I really got messed up. I'm sure I got a lot wrong. Also I don't know if there was a glitch on my test or it was on purpose but one pattern repeated exactly for 7 questions in a row. I wasted so much time looking at the shapes to make sure I wasn't missing some minute detail but the were all exactly the same. The answers were the same too and wasn't even rearranged.

There was no number pattern on my test...only words and shapes.

the math part was easy...the formula was on the top of the page the whole time...you just plug in the numbers and calculate
