SCHEDULE:

This position is year round with the exception of scheduled vacation and paid holidays in accordance with the Faculty Staff Handbook. Classroom teaching, flight instruction, and other responsibilities are conducted primarily weekdays but may include some evening and weekend flights. Attendance will also be required at some evening and weekend events.


POSITION DESCRIPTION:

  • Prepare course materials and assessments.
  • Provide flight instruction and conduct stage checks as assigned.
  • Maintain an understanding of current technologies applicable to the courses being taught
  • Provide leadership in the development and improvement of the courses he/ she is teaching.
  • Serve as a mentor for flight instructors as assigned.
  • Serve as an academic advisor to Aeronautical Science students.
  • Actively pursue relationships with students, faculty, and staff encouraging the accomplishment of the purpose and mission of LeTourneau University and the School of Aeronautical Science.
  • Participate in normal college activities related to a faculty position.


QUALIFICATIONS:

LeTourneau University seeks a person with an enthusiastic and contagious Christian faith who is committed to Christian higher education that integrates Christian faith with learning.

LeTourneau University operates a flight training program as part of its Aeronautical Science Bachelor’s Program under CFR part 141 and 61. Minimum professional qualifications are:
  • B.S. degree in aviation (Masters is required within 4 years of employment)
  • Commercial pilot – airplane single engine land
  • Commercial pilot – multi-engine land
  • Instrument rating – airplane
  • Certified flight instructor - airplane
  • Certified flight instructor – instrument airplane
  • Certified flight instructor - multi-engine airplane
  • Advanced Ground Instructor Certificate
  • Meeting CFR part 141 experience requirements for assistant chief position
  • Ability to work effectively in a team relationship with flight instructor staff and within the community of LeTourneau University
Desirable professional qualifications and experience:
  • Significant tail wheel flight experience
  • Air Transport Pilot Certificate
  • 121/135 experience
  • Aviation Human Factors experience and training
  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Mechanic certificate

Are you an alum? Tell others you know about the opening. It's a great opportunity for someone who loves flight training and education. We have six Citabrias now and do all private pilot training in them. It's really giving us great results in our pilots' flying skills.

Wut!? Uh, that is kinda very cool...
 
I guess everyone that is qualified got word of who is running the show and have subsequently returned to hiding!
