Selection Process
Our selection process begins with the submission of a resume. We are looking for candidates with 121 experience. However, candidates without 121 experience will be considered, especially if they have advanced aircraft training and/or experience. Multi-engine helicopter time counts as total time after a 100 hour MEL fixed-wing requirement, with a fixed-wing ME ATP preferred.

Our hiring team regularly reviews resumes and grants interviews on a competitive basis. Those meeting the above requirements are initially phone screened. If the phone screen is successful, the applicant is invited for an interview then simulator evaluation. During the interview, the applicant will be questioned on judgment, general aviation knowledge, instrument procedures, weather, AIM, and all FARs. Education, training history, and employment history will be reviewed. The simulator evaluation is normally conducted in the CRJ simulator where the applicant should demonstrate basic instrument proficiency, holding procedures, and instrument approach skills.

Candidates who have previously interviewed for pilot positions with ASA must wait at least six months before beginning the application process again. As an equal opportunity employer, we encourage workforce diversity and recognize the unique ideas and experiences of each individual. If you believe you're the best, come join our team.

I got that email!

Obap is having this big job fair out in Vegas today and tomorrow.

I'm sorry to say it yet again but I know I speak for many when I say, that is freakin' scary. I can't believe it. I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

So with everything that is going on over at ASA are they still a viable option for people starting out in the industry?

They were (and kinda) are my still first choice. But their continued unstability and contract negotiation failures (5 yrs.) makes me weary.

Love to hear some feed back!

Maxy feed back is this. I saw your totals thread on your logbook. I wouldn't worry about ASA becuase who knows where they will be when you have the time to apply. My frist choice is different now then it was a week ago.

You just never know what is going to happen to a regional airline. If ASA fits the criteria you consider when applying, then go for it. If not, apply elsewhere. ASA has some SERIOUS issues, but overall it's not a bad place to work.

The current ownership just needs to do a little housekeeping in the management department and they have to get the contract settled. Once that happens, a lot of the issues that pilots have will be resolved.

Well, honestly they're not my only choice. I like Mesaba, XJT and CHQ as well. But in college in Alabama I used to fly ASA all the time and have fond memories of those flights and kinda want to move back to the "A".

I think that ASA would be a really good place to network with Delta pilots, but I'm aware that you do't have to work at ASA to get hired by DL. Just look at Denny as an example.

Not a fan of the instability, the mangement and the stall contract negotiations (sp) but maybe with the exception of XJT, is there really a good regional out htere that treats their employees fair?

Dunno, they (ASA) still top my list. But I don't have that same fire for them that I used to. I'll wait and see what's goin on with them and everyone else in 08, post Skymates and judge from there.

rausda27, man I got your number in my phone and have never called ya, I need to!

The way minimums are going Max may not be as far off as it appears.
