ASA Recalls All?

The Comair kid posted the DTW base shift for Comair before it was announced.

Ah, crap. Now I'm "the Comair kid?" :)

Let's look at reality here. Marcus, a LOT of your "rumor" posts come off sounding like a "I know it all" type thing, and they read like you've got an inside to management. When someone calls you out on it, you almost even HINT that you've got an "in" with management. Then when you sign it off with a "you heard it here first" or "stay tuned" or "more to come in a few weeks," it only adds to it. Maybe you enjoy the mystique, I really don't know. But you can't come on here and say "I don't do that" when about 15 minutes worth of research could refute the statement.

Not you. CRJ something is his name. As for the other stuff, I'm putting all that to rest.

What about me? I do not like you! I don't like your "I know it all, I'm better than everyone else, I make enough money flying a CRJ flying for a super-duper regional" attitude.

I think you guys would get along just dandy if you met each other in real life. Triple7 is really a humble dude and someone I wouldn't mine having to share a cockpit with. True he is super optimistic and keeps a positive attitude that rubs some people the wrong way, but overall he is a person of good character...and someone I'm proud to call a friend.

Same here. Marcus is a good dude....too bad he cant beat me 1 on 1 on Basketball! LOL! ;)

Thanks bro! You said it perfectly about me being optimistic rubbing people the wrong way. When I say I'm happy then I get the backlash of how im the reason the industry is going downhill and how I'll be a 25 year ASA CR9 Capt, no 777 for you! And its hilarious that its not major pilots screaming this, but other regional pilots! BTW, we need to get back on that partying in multiple cities tour we were doing. Where did we leave off last time, Miami?

Yo, I was so out of shape it wasn't funny. I kept up with you for about 2 mins then it was complete beating. I had no legs left to even shoot the ball in that 3 point shooting contest that was basically you vs the other team lol.

But I'm glad to say many of my closest friends I met here on JC, so its aways home.

Yeah, I gotta say I've met both Trip7 and CRJFlyer and they're both great guys.

Trip7 was in my newhire class...and I sat next to him after my interview here. Very nice guy, very positive. I was walking from the MARTA stop to my crashpad one day and this car pulls up and somebody started yelling at me from inside. Not unusual for downtown Lanna, except the voice sounded familiar. Looked in and there was Trip7 and his girlfriend on the way to get some ice cream. Stopped in the middle of traffic just to say hi.

And CRJ and I went to college together. He helped me out a ton, I didn't have a car in college but any time I needed a ride he'd be more than happy to help out. I still owe him big time, otherwise my time there would have sucked even more than it already did.

I'm trying to hoop more often to stay in shape. I've always sucked at bball. I don't understand why. Some of my childhood friends went on to play D1 college ball yet I sucked horrably! I have good D though! You may score on me, but I'll make you work for it. I have no shame in being crossed over or dunked on.:D

Give me a ring if you ever have a CVG layover.

Exactly what I'm talking about! Some of my closest friends have staunch differences with me, but I cannot deny their character and general things that make up of good people.

It's not the the fact that you are drowned in koolaide. That's fine. It's the fact that you defend it that rubs people the wrong way. I have never seen anyone that so excited to get a few more RJs then you, enough to start spreading rumors months in advance.

You directing this specifically to anyone again?

Everytime I think you've turned a corner in your behavior you toss something like this out that makes me think that what was previously discussed is only a few thread replies from being brought right back up again.

Guess what a lot of people are trying to tell you is that it's not always about you. But more importantly the impression you are setting when you say some of this stuff.

I'm sure you can find a few adjectives some people may use to describe your statement above and how it may impact how people view what you write in the future, which is where much of this all began.

Just sayin'

As far as what you did say though - there will be those who - due to the lack of jobs in the mainline sector - will not make it to that golden ring. You may not have to worry about that, but someone - somewhere - perhaps on this very forum - will reach a career plataue that they are unsatisfied with professionally. It will happen, it may not be you for various reasons - but it may not be too much to respect the reality of the industry for those who would want to enter this game as they view this as a potential High School graduate trying to find his/her calling in life.

Yep, he's definitely going to do what you want if you talk down to him like that. It'll totally work!

Sorry it's talking down to you Marcus.

Joe, there are three additional paragraphs that should be taken together with the initial one to form the full context of what I'm saying.

Or perhaps - one paragraph would have worked - but why only write one when you can write three. :)

Looked like "we" at least came to an understanding on communicating (everytime you turn a corner in your behavior), then you say something like that to challenge the realizations of this profession with such a "It won't be me" attitude (toss something like this out that makes me think).

It's not about his optimism, that's wonderful and certainly admired considering just how well his career has gone so far.

It's about the disregard for the potential reality.

I've got zero problem with a positive attitude. We need more of it. Stuff like "Well, in a couple of years you'll be making good money as an RJ CA" or "layovers are just as good as a day off at home" are going the wrong direction. The friction comes from one person being perfectly happy being an RJ driver with little to no job security or long term earning potential vs someone who wants to eventually fly for a major. The two can't really co-exist in the current market. Growth at the RJ level is at the expense of mainline flying. For every RJ that shows up at a regional, that's one less 737/DC-9/MD-88/E-190 at a mainline carrier and several fewer jobs at that level.

Being positive is one thing, but don't be positive AND short-sighted.

Right now I'm aiming to move on, but at the end of my career for whatever reason I'm still at Atlantic Southeast, I would in no way consider myself a total failure. Everybody's situation is different. Our COO has been at ASA/Skywest for many many years. Highly doubt he misses out on being at the majors. Whatever happens in the future, furlough included, I know I can make the best out of that situation. Thats why Im always optimistic, not because of a "it won't be me" attitude.

Not short sighted at all. Right now there negative growth at the regional level. Those who will be best positioned to move on to the majors are pilots at regional companies that weathered the storm and grew at the expense of other regional companies.

If there is any growth at the regional level it won't be because of the actions of any regional pilots, but major pilots that further reduced scope. Highly doubt that will happen.
