ASA/ExpressJet

I would wager that a current Pinnacle Pilot (doesn't matter if they were Colgan, Mesaba, or Pinnacle), who is now living under a concessionary contract, made more money since the time of the announced merger, than someone at ExpressJet or ASA with similar seniority.

How do you figure that?

Date of conception was...

8/4/2010.
Crap I don't know when pinnacle bought mesaba. Think maybe 2010 as well? Think it was around the same time as XJT. I think Seggy is saying they should have gotten the contract done right away like pinnacle and this wouldn't be happening. Who knows If they would still be asking for concessions though. JTrains comment about inflation is sad ....

It was announced July 1st, 2010 for Pinnacle/Mesaba/Colgan, the ASA/XJT marriage about a month later.

Management would be asking for concessions, HOWEVER, the ASA/XJT MEC would have a lot more leverage and the pilots would have had a better contract than they have now to work under until the concessions were decided one way or another.

Easy, enhanced work rules, better pay, industry leading 401K match, etc...

This isn't exactly true. Pay might have been a little better at pinnacle compared to ASA but the ExpressJet side has better retirement plan then Pinnacles under the JCBA. Work rules are better under ASA with duty rigs.

You mean for the few months they had the better contract before the company realized they couldn't afford it? Because right now I make $5 more per hour than a comparable pinnacle f/o. I have 6% 401k matching, which is slightly more than the 5.25% at Pinnacle.

That's all I can get off of APC. Even looking at the pre-concession contract, the pay rate is pretty much the same as what I'm making now.

It was about 18 months the Pinnacle pilots had their contract in place.

I was getting a match of 10% when I left.

Did you guys have a min day pay of 5 hours? Also the other work rules were superior at PCL. Remember they needed to be because of the 'history' of work rules at Colgan and Pinnacle.

We had a min day of five hours (I think) that worked a lot better than the duty rig.

You were getting dollar for dollar. The junior guys get .25c to the dollar. ExpressJet ERJ has a defined contribution.

18 months of a pretty good contract. Means they've been lagging behind what ASA has been doing for only 50 months of my career.

It was a pretty good contract. But they voted to get rid of it. Now we're all screwed.

No doubt you have had a better contract longer, but for 18 months they were getting paid more than ASA/XJT was because of the games being played with your contract talks. Unfortunately a lot if those games point directly to union leadership.

Nah, it was going to be gotten rid of thanks to scum bankruptcy laws.

I would say that a L-XJT pilot made 10% more than a Pinnacle JCBA pilot when you include pay, insurance, 401k, and all other benefits.

While I don't want to get into a pissing match of who's crappy regionals contract was better, I can tell you that six months into last year I was on pace to make more than my buddies at XJT were going to make as captains with me being a Saab captain. Granted I called to junior man myself weekly and the first few months of the year 150 hours credit was the norm.

Interesting. I know I was on pace to make significantly less than my friends at XJT and working much more. And I thought I was working the system well at Pinnacle.

Edit: Now that I think about it, my actual 2012 pay was less than my XJT friends

Where were u based? In IAH we were hurting bad - and I used to know the contract well. We have a lot more soft money in our contract, it wasn't my $56 an hour that made me make more.
