ASA CFI Oral Exam Prep

I just picked up a copy because I was pleased with the version for the Commercial. Looks good, can't go wrong for $12.

I think they are helpful. I wouldn't use them as my only study tool for sure but its a good way to guage how you are at thinking on your feet. Its nice because you can have a non pilot friend just pick sections and give you questions etc. Then again beware of just making it like any other checkride where you just answer questions - now your check pilots are looking for TEACHING ability, YOU asking questions and defining completion standards for the student etc - not just on what you know of technical knowledge, its how you can translate that knowledge to your student.

very helpful.... my $.02

I used the ASA oral exam books on every check ride, including CFI, and found them to be extremely helpful.

It's a good study guide, the way I use it is to go threw the entire book and awnser the questions. Then you will have a good idea what you know and the stuff you need to study. Reasearch the complete subject on the questions that you missed, get as indepth as you can. Remember that you will be taking your test with the FAA, who know the origan, purpous, and current status of everything in the universe (or so they think), or a hand picked DE who knows his/her s**t. This method of study got me a 98 on FOI and 99 on the FIA, I hope it helps you. B
