ARROW GEAR LIGHT

We were doing x-wind landings the other day and my friend touched down on the downwind wheel rather firm. For a moment the unsafe gear light lit up and the horn sounded...but only as long as the wheel was bearing the weight of the plane. then we settled and it went away. it was on for a total of maybe 1.5 secs. my question is...is this normal? and has anyone else had this happen. Weve had it happen in flight for same duration at level cruise, but that was explained as the pumps having to work a little to compensate for the leak in the hydraulics. They explained that there is a small leak and a difference in pressure with a reduction on barometric pressure at altitude. His landing was out of the ordinary....just a little firm on teh left wheel with a right x-wind. Should we be concerned?

I wouldn't worry about it, it sounds like something related to the downlock microswith is loose or mis-adjusted, but there is no way this could affect the downlocks on a Piper Arrow. The pump would have to run in the up direction to disengage the downlock.
