Army

Unfortunately, per the documents I have read, the 117, BUFFS, etc.. are going away to save money.. I have sen the exact numbers, that we will supposedly saver, but it is still stupid in my eyes. IM sure the current nighthawk drivers will damn near pick their next assignment

Im not sure brother.. We were originally slated to take more raptors, but ended up cutting the n umber due to money. It will definetely help in the air superiority role, however there is only aso much a few units can do..I dont see the C model 15's around a whole lot longer, luckily the mudhens have been around a lot less longer.

Will all those retired F-15s, F-16s, and etc be going to reserves and ANG units? Any chances of new units being opened? Any chances of new aircraft being added to the reserves/ang fleet?

i am a air guard member, however, my father is a retired O-6 helicopter pilot. i couldn't imagine switching. in my experience, air guard enlisted are treated better than many officers in the army. i've got the proof. there are plenty of things about army aviation that are better and i haven't ruled it out. i am still holding out for my air guard slot out there.

There is some truth in that statement, but it depends on what the criteria is and what the comparisons are. What exactly do you mean by better? Is it administration, lodging, pay, or treatment?

I gave up my AF Reserve pilot slot to go Army. I am a firm beleiver that on the 8th day God created CAS Im sure Will's statement revolves around lodging and QOL issues..... I was AF enlisted crewmember, and can definetely say I was treated pretty damn good for being an "E". I stayed at wonderful hotels, made good Per Diem, and have no regrets. However, I decided Army Aviation was where I wanted to be. I can put up with giving in on some QOL issues while TDY All in all any Officer from any branch of the service gets treated pretty damn well. Im sure a lot better then when your Father was a LT, as things have really changed in the MilitaryREAD; politcally correct

No new units. Sometime when you get a chance read over the BRAC from last year, very very depressing. There are viper units actually going away. They became predator units :(
