I was talking to a recruiter back a couple months ago, I told him I knew how the process worked and he gave me the no-bull process. I interviewed and such, but ended up not continuing with the process to continue working civilian. So I wasn't talking to a WO recruiter but a regular recruiter.Be careful John, generally speaking, your average military recruiter is not authorized to sign up an Officer Candidate or Cadet. They may tell you to sign and then you'll get to WOFT later. DON'T DO IT!!
If WOFT is what you want, ask specifically for an Officer recuiter.
Now, Guard on the other hand will not allow you to go directly to WOFT from civilian. They tend to promote from within and will want you to sign before trying to get WOFT.
