Flying Bison

Well-Known Member
After a long year of putting together my packet, I was finally notified on Monday that I was accepted into warrant officer flight training in the Army to fly rotary wing aircraft!

I'm honored to be able to join the ranks of all the other soldiers here in serving our country, and I look forward to the long and challenging road ahead of me.

Congrats brother!

If you have any questions about the process of whats to come or anything feel free to PM me. What airframe would you like to fly?

Soon enough you can enjoy the perma-sauna that is Iraq.

I'm really interested in the Chinook or the Blackhawk based on their role, and You can probably expect a PM or two from me in the future.

Thanks everybody!

Congrats! I have been putting some serious thought into this myself... I have always wanted to learn how to fly a helicopter.

I'm a civilian applicant. I will be sure to keep everybody informed of my progress, These forums helped me with my packet so I want to do everything I can to help others.

DaveC:

My packet is as follows:

Asvab GT: 127
AFAST: 140
APFT: 229 (I improved this since, but the actual test for my packet was taken months ago)
5 LORs, one of which was from a CW5 aviator
4 year B.S. in aviation
commercial single and multi, CFI, CFII just under 2000 hrs civilian flight time (all fixed wing)

If you need any help with your packet lemme know.

And again, thanks everybody!

Good work man, welcome to the club!

I am sure WOCS might have changed a bit since I went through (Well over 10 years ago), but if you have questions about the process, and the Do's and Do Not's drop me a P.M.

Congrats man!! I am talking to an Army recruiter today about the WOFT program.

Be careful John, generally speaking, your average military recruiter is not authorized to sign up an Officer Candidate or Cadet. They may tell you to sign and then you'll get to WOFT later. DON'T DO IT!!

If WOFT is what you want, ask specifically for an Officer recuiter.
