Are airline pilot hats in or out?

Whoa whoa whoa, easy fellas, i like to leave the idea of brass poles at cheesy, dollar slinging places...

voted yes, but I doubt I'll ever end up wearing one becuase you'll be hard pressed to find one big enough..... 8.5 baby..... :hiya:

At my airline they are optional (except for MKE based crews) and those who wear them when they don't have to are kind of made fun of, however the day we ordered uniforms they told us we were probably all going to MKE so we'd need a hat. So I got one. Then like 2 days later we got our domicile awards and only 4 of us out of 25 got MKE. I got ORD. No hat required. However now that I paid for it, I'm damn sure going to wear it. If nothing else its a good place to hold all the crap in my pockets when I go through security.

:yeahthat:

The hat comes out in the winter time........the blazer just doesn't look right without the hat......in the summer, it's just too friggen hot to wear the damn thing......

Y'all oughta wear the hats. I'll tellya why:

As a regular pax, it often amazes me how similar the uniforms of the FAs, skycaps, and pilots appear. If you're in a striped blazer without a hat, I might think you're an FA. Wear the hat, and it's pretty easy to tell that you aren't a skycap, which means you're a pilot.

I've got a 7 3/4's. I know one guy that has an 8 1/4, but coincidentally his nickname is "Buckethead" because of that melon!

No worries JEP......that giant grape of yours must mean you're amazingly intellegent. You need all that space to house the vast quantities of grey matter! ;)

We bow to you, oh wise one! :hiya:

Oh, on topic, I not a fan of the hat. Although, we're supposed to wear them from Labor Day to Memorial Day....most people don't. :p

Love it or hate it, you sign up for whatever the uniform policy is when you accept employment. Doesn't necessarily mean that it shouldn't be modified however.

True indeed. I don't care for it but when I got hired I signed up for it so I'm going to wear it.

7 3/4 baby!!:nana2:

Hubby's hat lives in the closet still. I think he's waiting for winter to wear it. He says there is some kind of hat/blazer rule.

He also came home with a clip on tie. I made him take it back and get a real one. WTF am I supposed to do with a clip on tie? I need something I can work with.

K

True.

But I'd have to hang them sideways or reattach the clip at a better angle.

The little stick on wings that they give out to kids work best as pasties though... umm, or so I've heard.
