Apple iPad as EFB

So what if I don't want to buy an iPad? The HP Slate will be a much better system than the iPad. Are there chart programs available through NACO that will put every chart in the contiguous U.S. on the Slate? I don't want to do Jepp, it's too expensive.
 
You can multi task on it. I have an iPod touch right now, and all the iPad is going to be is a big version of that. So basically, you can run more than one program at one time. Not a big deal if all you're going to use it for is an EFB. I'd like to use if for a lot more though!

It's basically the iPad, but it runs windows so you can have multiple things open at the same time. I'm not sure whether it has some type of cell plan you can buy with it or not or whether it has GPS or not, but if it has both of those (for the same price as the iPad), it would be a much better thing to have.
 
Sounds like it. My big beef with the iPad is a lack of multitasking and a locked platform for apps. I don't mind these things on my iPhone, but if I were to buy an iPad, it would be to release me from carrying my laptop with me to class everyday, and I HAVE to be able to take notes and look at JC at the same time! ;)
 
It's also much much heavier and has much less battery life*. There are trade offs to everything.


*That is just a guess, this device is just vaporware at the moment.
