Anything to do in Kansas City?

Well, here I am trying to find good places to fly to build time for my commercial. Has anyone ever flown to the Wheeler Downtown Airport in Kansas City before? I figure a flight to there from Denver would be a nice trip, but I'm sure a refueling stop would be needed for anything smaller than a C182.

I've driven around KC before on car trips to the east coast, but have never actually been anywhere inside the city before. Any cool places to check out?

It's Kansas, what do you think?

Even worse!

And there are "two" Kansas Cities. Mo and Ks. But you probably already knew that.

You folks all lucked out. I think Sarah's on her way to New Mexico. The lucky girl's going to get a taildragger endorsement while she's out there.

Kansas City used to be in my territory so I spent a little time there. There are a few things to do.

First of all, if you're in the mood to do a little gambling and kill a little time, there's a Harrah's.

There's also a hole in the wall barbeque place where supposedly every President from Truman on has gone. It's called Arthur Bryant's and here's their website: http://www.arthurbryantsbbq.com/index.htm

There are also some places where you can check out live bands. I can't remember the name of the place that I went to but I had a really good time and it was pretty inexpensive. I'm sure they could point you in the right direction at the hotel.

go down to Country Club Plaza and/or Westport. Lots of good shops, restaurants, bars, ect... I've spent a few weekends down there: once with some buddies, and a couple times with the wife and another couple. Always had a good time. Stayed at the downtown Hyatt which isn't too far from them. I'd give you directions but its been awhile since I've been there and I don't know the area that well. The Hyatt is also connected to Crown Center(more shopping) and Union Station. There are several different attractions at Union Station. Last time I was there, there was a show going on called "Sticks of Thunder". It was basically a musical performance centered around drums....cool as all hell. I kinda doubt its there anymore, but if it is I highly recommend it. Do a quick internet search for any of those...they won't be hard to find.
