Anything larger than a cell phone now banned for Carryon?

Go figure. I have two trips to the middle East coming in April and may. Three weeks and two weeks.

Just bought an Alienware to carry as second device since work Inspiron is so locked down.

Going through Paris both trips so currently not impacted but concerned now I will depart and the Frogs will add their own version and some baggage ape will end up with my nice new laptop.

Since airlines currently exempt electronics from loss coverage, but we are forced by regulations to stow in checking led bags, I'm sure some loss will be checking the validity of that exemption via Court action at some point.

Anyone else see a potential ValuJet Flight 592 type of scenario out of this?

That happened because there was no detection or suppression in that forward cargo bin on that ValuJet DC9. It was already hot/smoking while taxiing out at MIA, and with simple detection systems they would have gotten a fire warning and have never taken off in the first place.

My problem with this is whatever technology they are using for the checked bags, then do it for carry ons. Just like the liquid rule, this is useless. 3 oz / 100 mL and as pointed out before, nothing stops multiple people from getting together and combining/mixing their liquids. It is an utterly ridiculous rule that the public traveling sheep has come to accept, instead of electing people who will disband the TSA or at least their ridiculous security policies.

And having traveled through Lahore and Dubai airports, I will say without a doubt that my screening at those two airports was far, FAR more thorough than ANYTHING I've even experienced in the United States.
