anyone who flies, or has ever flown for an airline..

Everyone else degree shouldn't matter in your decision matrix process. Get a 4 yr degree in anything...the airlines don't care what and anyone 5 yrs removed from college doesn't care what you got a degree in either. At the very least earn a 2 yr degree in something.

Doesn't matter where you go to school either. Harvard, Princeton, ERAU, Flat Rock Junction University or Podunk U in Nowheresville, AR. IT DOESN"T MATTER *except* that you have a degree.....PERIOD!!! I fly with everyone from Harvard grads with advance degrees to straight off the farm no degree alumni of "Life University".

Like everyone says, there are a million roads which all lead to the same place. Pick one that is exciting as if you miss the journey you may end up hating the destination. Thats my corny line for the evening. Take care.

skymates for PPL then Skymavs (now defunct) flying club for my next 200 hours. 25 hours in a friend's seminole. PPL ASEL and AMEL.

Now I'm a worthless LT in the USAF.

B.S. Aeronautical Operations

5 year plan, spent the first two in a Junior College while working on all ratings through CFII. Spend last two working as a flight instructor full time. Graduated with 2000 hours total and an ATP. Went to work for a commuter one month later.

Get the degree in something you are interested in. If you are interested in aviation then it would make sense to get the degree in that. If you have other interests that fit into a degree program at your school of choice then it would be okay to go that route.

Good luck.

Expecting to get furloughed in about 6 months. The aviation education was OUTSTANDING for somebody wanting to do this for a living. However, facing a furlough my options outside of aviation are somewhat limited as I try to find a job that pays about the same as what I make now. Kinda wish I had some other type of education to lean on.

Good luck to you.
