Anyone use ARINC or Universal Weather?

Hey guys,

I have my PPL but since working at an FBO I have seen corporate pilots doing flight planning on ARINC or UniWeather. I usually plan flights on fltplan.com and I know for only having my PPL, ARINC might be a waste for me. I'm sure it probably cost a lot to have but I was wondering if there is a free demo or something similar just to see how a normal flight plan would look on it. I thought it was pretty cool how the nav log was formatted and how it looks like a flight plan someone that was flying for an airline would use. Feel free to pm me.

Thanks,

Chris

Been flying a Hawker and Lear for 2 1/2 years and still use fltplan.com. Quick, easy, and we only pay $Free.99 per month for the service.

We use Universal occasionally for our trips to the Caribbean and Latin America. The first time we go somewhere new, we let Universal handle the details, but if we can figure out how to file our own flight plans (usually involves faxing or walking your completed flight plan form to the tower controller), we'll do it ourselves next time and save boatloads of money. We used to go to St Thomas almost on a weekly basis, and fltplan.com didn't support filing to or from there. I would call Miami International FSS and file it the old school way. They now offer service for the USVI now and it's a breeze

As far as what you've been seeing with guys using the computer at the FBO, they are probably paying a monthly rate.

we use arinc and also use them for our afis in the plane. i can't say that i would ever pay to use the service in light aircraft.
