The search function is an awesome tool.

Is 100 multi even competitive these days?

Unless you meet job minimums but you need the 50 or 100 hours of multi, you might want to hold off before spending 8000 for 100 hours. Good deal though if it's true.

I know I have been asking this a lot lately, but here goes...

Is this thread a joke? What's going on here lately?

Re: Anyone know about Accelerated Professional Pilots Progra

If you are pre commercial certificate and need those 100 hours anyway, then this may not be such a bad deal (barring the deal is not a total scam, which a lot of these deal are). If you are looking to build time post commercial certificate, 100 more hours is not going to help much compared to all the competition in today's job market.

edit:
Already discussed

However, there is a minimum 7 flight hours expected on a daily basis when away from our home base. Unlike other programs that pair you together and only allow you to fly during the night to build time after your flight training is done,
1. so you have a 14 day time limit, meaning if you DON'T fly 7 hours a day, every day for 14 days, you lose.
2. Being pushed to fly 7 hours a day every day so you don't lose your money seems like a recipe for flying when you shouldn't
3. is this another safety pilot scheme? I would say it has to be as that seminole costs way more than $75 an hour to operate

Re: Anyone know about Accelerated Professional Pilots Progra

Went on a flight on this back in Feb. I would recommend this program if the guy running it has done the following things...

1. Updated all of his charts and approach plates (some of them were over a year old). For example, we were given a STAR that we didn't have... and the book of sectional charts and low-en-route charts was also over a year old.

2. Re-configured the weight and balance of the aircraft with the updated equipment installed on the plane. He was using the Empty weight from 1979!!!! Meanwhile, he's installed a G-396 in the dash that he uses for IFR... non-IFR GPS!

3. Doesn't lie to you saying that he has 20 planes all over the country (he has 1 plane that works in KPMP, the others on his website are all pictures off the internet, he does have 3 planes that sit at KRBD but none of them are functioning) and he doesn't even have an office of any sorts...

4. C172captain and I went on this trip... you can ask him about it too.

The experience was great, but the guy was a total tool about everything and was only concerned about your money... If the approach plates aren't current and the weight and balance hasn't been re-configured (which the owner will lie about and say that is has been), I'd recommend not going.

1. You don't buy your own charts?
2. Why would you do a W and B for a Garmin handheld? You may still use that in IFR, for situational awareness only. You may also use it to fly direct to places, provided you DON'T file /G.
3. LOL. That is pretty bad on his part. Not the first or the last school to do that sort of thing.

Re: Anyone know about Accelerated Professional Pilots Progra

I have a friend with lots of SEL, even flying the Caravan that wishes he had more multi, but even if you have a couple thousand hours to go with it, I can't see spending $8,000 these days.
CFI, CFI- MEL, CFI-II- maybe by then the job market will improve.

Re: Anyone know about Accelerated Professional Pilots Progra

It wasn't the GPS, but that there were a few things done to the plane since 1979 that would have effected the weight and balance including taking seats out.... And he always stressed to file /g. claiming that the GPS was an IFR rated GPS... I didn't find that out until the last leg of our trip.

He said and claimed that all the charts were supplied so I didn't purchase any, only to find out the approach plates were from 07...

details, its all just details.

Taking the seats out doesnt matter, they're going back in on the same track. If ur that concerned about the W&B, are you taking a tape measure out every time to find out EXACTLY where the seats are at?

I don't get what the deal is with /G. doesn't matter if you file that or not, you can take direct either way.

And he supplied you with charts, he just might not have said anything about current ones. ;)

Either way, you got 100 hours of multi for 8 grand, i really wouldnt bitch about that too much. For that cheap of a price, i guarantee you theres certain things that i would be looking over.

Re: Anyone know about Accelerated Professional Pilots Progra

If it will end up saving you money in the long run, then go for it. Otherwise theres no reason to accelerate anything with pilot jobs so few and far between and with thousands of airline pilots on the streets.

Re: Anyone know about Accelerated Professional Pilots Progra

You can easily fly 100 hours in well under a month.

If pilot employers suddenly started hiring like mad (which is unlikely) then you'd still have a little time to get on the train with this "100 hr multi" plan.

In reality, since there are already so many qualified pilots with > 100 hrs on the streets already, the likelihood that this will make you at all competitive in the first wave is almost nil.

Get your MEI, and do some instructing, or get a job flying a twin somewhere.

Get paid to log the time, and when the next hiring cycle starts, you'll have a lot less debt.
