Anyone know a place to get some cheap helo time?

I've got a CMEL-I, and I just wanted to try my hand at hovering one of these days. I'm looking for a place in NE Mississippi, or Memphis, TN, or maybe Birmingham, AL... Basically that kind of neck of the woods.

Not really looking to get a license for a helo. More of the equivalent of a discovery flight or 2.

Any suggestions.

Why not just call the Army National Guard and see if they will give a couple of rides to you? There is CH-47 unit here in Meridian.

Well, I just know how hard it is to arrange that sort of thing in the Air Force for people, that I figured the Army would probably be no different. Especially if your looking to actually FLY the helicopter. I may give a call, but I figured if I really came into a lot of money and time (mostly time) that I might go for an Add on.

So for that I would need a school.

You could get a helicopter ride with an Army unit without a problem - wiggling controls is probably not an option though.

Mo matter where you go, a half hour in a small training helo will cost you about $125-$150 or so. IMO, well worth the money just for the experience. Just try and not get hooked on it. ;)

You cannot connect the words "cheap' and "helicopter time"...

I dunno how you did it with your keyboard - mine will not allow it, like two magnets that won't touch the same polerized ends -
