Anyone here fly for Alpine Air?

I know a Pilot who works there, and by the looks of it he is having alot of fun with it. He flies from Kennewick,WA to Boeing Field. He leaves at 530pm and returns the next day at about 6am.

Alpine = Bottomfeeder

Stay Away!

I personally know someone who worked for them, and watched them operate on an EAS contract to an airport I worked at.

EAS is Essential Air Service. Basically the government pays a supplement to a company to provide air service to a small community that would otherwise be unserved by an airline. One of the stipulations of the contract (at least the one I know of) is that the plane be pressurized, and if I recall correctly, turbine powered. They had a Cheyenne for this purpose but many times they used a old beater Navajo. At least the times that they actually flew the route instead of cancelling for some reason. Even if they didn't fly they still got paid by the government. The paticular community I was living at got the contract taken away from them due to so many complaints from the public. People not making their connecting flight etc.

I also recall something about them losing all for their contracts to carry U.S. Mail because of some scam that the government caught them doing. Not 100% sure on that though. Maybe someone else can enlighten us on that.

Not stealing from an FO that is required to be there. They are single pilot. Any one who pays is just a sucker thats all.

I agree with this. I know that Alpine's not the only company that does this. I believe Ameriflight even partakes in this- they used to anyways. They used to have FO's for single pilot freight that weren't required and people were paying the money for it.

As for Alpine itself- it depends on the route. I know some alpine pilots that actually really enjoy it. They're at outstations however, and have really nothing to do with management. They actually get paid fairly well too. Not a company I'd go to because of their reputation, but I know some good pilots are there and happy to be there.
