Anyone Heard Anything??

I applied for Salt Lake City in June 07', took the test in Jan 08' and was told that I am among those being considered. I may or may not be contacted for an interview. Here we sit, still, not contacted for an interview. The public anouncement that closed in Feb 08 has already scheduled the AT-SAT! Amazing. Anyways, just wondered if anyone heard anything yet and if anyone knows who to call in OKC to followup on the process?

The Salt Lake City panel meet with the rest of the western states Feb 26-28. My understanding is ZLC got mostly VRA's, tower and TRACON went after locals with aviation experience. I don't have any aviation experience but I am hoping to get an interview offer from any SLC facilities. If I hear or read of any offers getting out all post it. Good Luck!

What is ZLC? Did you mean SLC? Or is ZLC another part of SLC?

My husband applied for the June '07 opening as well, took the test in Jan '08 in SLC and is on the reference list to "may or may not be contacted for an interview". Crossing our fingers and hoping!

Beehive: Who did you hear the aviation experience from and how much experience will be needed? My husband has his ppl, so just wondering!

ZLC is Salt Lake ARTCC. Salt Lake City has a tower, the enroute center (ARTCC), and a TRACON if I'm not mistaken.

Any facility with a Z in the front is an ARTCC... ZSL, ZKC, ZID. Seattle, Kansas City and Indianapolis Centers respectively, FYI.

That is consistent with what I have heard as well. A family friend just started out at ZLC, and he was a CTI. I do not know how much aviation expereince they are looking for. I have an Airline dispatcher license and PPL. I graduate in May from the U of U in Meteorology. Seems like many of us are well-qualified. I also applied to the OTS announcement that closed in February and listed some other locations, and have heard nothing from that yet either. It says I have not been chosen to take the AT-SAT, yet I ALREADY took it in Jan and scored mid 90's. What an interesting process.

How does that REO Speedwagon song go... Heard it from a friend whooo heard it from a friend whooo heard it from another.

They have until April 27th to hand out interview offers but i'm sure it will be sooner.
Word on the street is SLC facilities hired locals because they thought they could be able to get trainees to stick around longer in there home state. They didn't want to send someone thats not from UT to OKC, have'em come out to UT and realize it's not where they want to be, and then be out a trainee. If you get a position in SLC make sure to tell your facility manager(the person that picked you), thanks.

How on earth do you get this information?!? When we call OKC we get nothing. :banghead: The SLC ATC's we know, have little knowledge about the inside hiring info, other than more than likely if you get an interview, you have the job as long as you pass the physical. The one is working as a retiree going back as a contractor, the other is about to retire (within the next year) and the other has been doing it for about 3 years now. The one guy tried to get my husband a tour of the facilities and a meeting with the people that work there, but the rules have changed since he last tried and the FAA only allows to take anyone there unless they are related to him.

the FAA only allows to take anyone there unless they are related to him.

I was able to take a tour of Indy Center (where my dad works) Kansas City Center (no family) Kansas City Approach and Tower (no family) and Wichita Tracon (friend) with no problems. They said they just have to request it 24 hours in advance

I think OKC has a hidden don't ask don't tell policy! I'm hoping all of us great Utahns will get an interview offer soon, waiting sucks but whata ya gonna do.

JT ATC - The guy that was going to take him is an independent contractor...not "technically" employed by the FAA and he said that was why he couldn't get him in. Who knows...could just be the manager or supervisor.

Beehive - I don't think it is only OKC that has the don't ask, don't tell policy!

congrats dude, if you want to speed up the process call Zoey405-798-2044 or teri to get in one of those PEPC's b/f they fill up. did you end up getting a terminal position or ZLC??

It's for terminal. It noted I would be interviewed at the TRACON so...it would be great to do the PEPC but the furthest west I have read of it coming is Chicago. SLC facilities are only 30 miles away so it shant be too bad. I'm stoked!

Congrats! That is really awesome.

Who was the email from so we can make sure that it doesn't go to junk mail?!

I don't want to burst anybody's bubble but a while back OKC told me that all interview offers for that application go out on the same day. If you didn't receive the offer today you might want to call OKC tomorrow and ask them to check your status. If they give you any problems say your out of town with no access to e-mail for a couple weeks and don't want to miss any offers. Good luck.

Beehive-Congrats dude! Few Q's. What are PEPC that you are mentioning? I am not familiar with that acronym. Also, you got an email? What a strange way to offer a job, via email. Who was it from? I will really be dumbfounded if I do not get an interview-but that is just me being arrogant. Interesting stuff. Congrats again!

PEPC is a Pre-Employment Preparation Center the FAA just started conducting a short time ago where FAA ATCS applicants can get their interview, medical, security, psych, etc. done in one day.

The only way the FAA has offered interviews that I know of is by e-mail. I think it is a good way for both the applicant and the FAA to keep a hard copy of everything exchanged. I received my e-mail from the ATO which pretty much asked me to make sure all my contact info was correct and to let them know I was still interested in the position and to expect more info on the interview and such.

I had put in for about 32 different states last summer, took the ATSAT for CT and got put on 10 referral list. Maybe the UT selection panel liked that I was willing to sacrifice a lot to become a ATCS which I was and still am.
