Anyone flown over something/seen something they feel they shouldn't have?

Anyone else find it odd that the military secret base has the Air Force Times reporting on it? I can understand just about any other publication, but really?

I never liked Air Force Times. I figured out quickly that is wasn't produced and published by the Air Force.

Whats funny is how the AF tries to treat it like a super secret that should never even be mentioned, or you will go to jail (sit in a Red Flag brief sometime); yet it's existance.....the fact that it merely exists....has been known for a long time and even recognized by President Clinton during his time in office. Even when the area known as "Freedom Ridge" was open, there were many pics of the facility. Of course, what goes on there and the projects there are classified and rightfully so, but the mere existance of the place shouldn't be.

Of course, maybe the military wants a certain amount of attention paid to that place, so as to keep attention off other places.......:)

There are a few hangers up here at GFK that seem to be always closed, and it's amazing how little we saw the predators on the ramp. Things are classified for a reason and I like it that way. When they are past their usefulness as classified we will all know about them. Until then, keep them secret.

I have a problem with the fact that we all seem to think that every part of our lives should be unclassified. I have what I have to be shared publicly on here and on facebook. Otherwise it's mine. It irritates me when people put their Christmas trees in the window so everyone can see and then never close their blinds when they get up in the morning. Some things should really be classified not for public consumption if you know what I mean.

I have a friend that works in a Class C airport. One day there was a F117 nearby that was not squawking. It was a few years ago when he was able to tune/de tune the radar antenna so that it could be very sensitive. Anyways he worked and worked and was still unable to see the F117. The F117 gave position reports, but never squawked. All of course on the UHF....

During the cold war my friend was a King Salmon. He said one mid shift the RADAR repair guy showed them if he changed the frequency on our RADAR they could see Russian aircraft scramble.

Of course, maybe the military wants a certain amount of attention paid to that place, so as to keep attention off other places.......:)
