Anyone ever rig up some sort of A/C

I'm renting 172's out of the local FBO. I don't necessarily want to be restricted to flying in the morning/evening. I've seen the cooler air conditioners for sale for over 400 bucks. Anyone got any other solutions? I was thinking of possibly getting a small hand held cooler. Cutting a small hole for air to pass through and mounting a small electric fan, essentially blowing cool air out. It's not gonna compare to the A/C in my Pontiac, but at least it should make it a bearable temperature. The window doesn't help to much when its over 80 degrees!

Do like everyone else does-- sweat it out. Although realistically, keep the doors open until you're on the runway and keep the windows open as long as possible. Even on 95+ degree days, it does get bearable after takeoff with the air rushing in through the windows... just gotta survive through the ground ops! :beer:
 
As mentioned above, tough it out, Nancy. Hell, when I was instructing, they put heaters in the planes to make you Tougher. You kids these days.

Also: Don't fly hungover in the summer. There's a story behind that one.

Nobody's going to get any sympathy from me. 8 legs on a summer day in the full monkey suit and tie. Good way to lose some water weight. :D
 
How bout those fans that you get at the county fair... little handheld fan things that can spray water at you too!
 
OMG 80 Degrees! ... It's been 100 on the ramp the past week and it's only May.

Added bonus : When my student sweats I get to smell some delectable cuisine.
