Got it. But so far only WSI and AWC are the ones I look at for dispatching. But good info. good info!If there is a hurricane and the Weather Channel sent a team, Jim Cantore is the one there.

WSI is the same company that runs the Weather Channel's website (weather.com) as well as weather underground.Got it. But so far only WSI and AWC are the ones I look at for dispatching. But good info. good info!![]()
If this is something that sets you off maybe it’s time to look inward and see what is really bother
Yeah like people's dumbness. If this is something that sets you off maybe it’s time to look inward and see what is really bothering you.![]()
When you gave them a wx avoidance route already and cont fuel and they want more fuel, when they want to fly through the wx and aren't looking a the route you gave them, or when they call you and say MX is onboard. Always a sad face when that happens.
Really appreciate this post!!! "HELP ME HELP YOU" haha!Damn. I have found the planning at my airline exemplary. The dispatchers are awesome and I've leaned on them pretty hard for routing through storms and performance issues when runways closed. Always extremely helpful. I always include them on operational control issues. The latest was a big build up over PIT. Heavy rain. +/- 20 knots of windshear. ETC. I called the dispatcher and said hey I have XYZ fuel. I'm #1 for 28R and I'm just gonna let this storm pass with one engine running. Is that cool with you? Still took off with more than the release required fuel. Only 2 months in as captain but so far nothing required for fuel. If I did ask I would have a reason and it would likely be more than 1K of fuel for warm and fuzzies. That would be 10 minutes in the 737...
Super appreciate the dispatchers at my airline. Amazing I have this resource. Maybe I'm just grateful since I self-dispatched for so many years on the corporate side.
How come you are this knowledgeable???!!!! I am envious now.WSI is the same company that runs the Weather Channel's website (weather.com) as well as weather underground.
Exactly. Now when I look back, I am even kinda glad he called. Because if he didn't, there might be an overfueling issue in a few more minutes and could cause to bump pax... imagine lolAt my airline, the flight crews can add fuel on their own up to 2000 lbs over PTOW without even talking to us. Doesn't bother me unless it causes a weight issue. If that's what it takes for them to be comfortable operating the flight, so be it.
They did you a favor - now you can get back to working up those flights. And focusing on more important itemshow about after you explain the reason and he hung up on you?!
At this point, they essentially admitted they messed up and you were right. That's all the self satisfaction you need sometimes. They did you a favor - now you can get back to working up those flights. And focusing on more important items
I will say, at one of my previous places, tanker fuel was not mandatory. Ops had the discretion to add as much tanker fuel as they wanted between Min Fuel and planned Max tanker. In this case, the pilot could call for extra fuel when they wanted and the fuel would go from extra to mandatory.Ops called me one day saying Captain requested an extra 1500lbs and asked if that was ok... I immediately called the Captain and asked if he'd even seen the release because flight was planned with an extra 6 grand in tanker fuel and that an additional 1500lbs of pointless gas would cause a weight restriction.
TFAYD. I had to google it the first time I saw it cuz I thought it is "the fxxx are you doing". But seriously wth is CWPE???? Any context lol?Totally. It would rock out. It doesn't piss me off, but I get irritate when they short hand it in ACARS and you are supposed to know what it means. For example, put on your thinking caps boys and girls. OPS CTRL MSG "CWPE" Usually they spell it out.

I'm making the numbers look good for the leadership hooked on phonics, so when Orlando gets that 15 minute rainstorm at 14:18 and you all hold over Daytona Beach, no one's immediately diverting.
Because it's all the same damn fuel. The numbers just look fancy.
OPS PEOPLE ARE THE WORST SOMETIMES!!! MAN I DONT WANNA START A WAR BUT HAVE YOU EVER TRIED ATL DADDY D OPS!!!! Just for non reving and jumpseating tho... BUT STILL. YEAH OPS MAKE ME SO ANGRY SOMETIMES.Not if ops never put the fuel on the plane to begin with
