Anyone else turn down a PEPC for a local interview?

Anyone have an update on this process? I'm leaning towards the non-PEPC because I can't afford flying to any of the locations.

Any of the FEBOTS going this route as well?
 
OH, I'm nervous, but I also went non-PEPC in my reply email. I figured since I was one of the later ones to get the email, everyone else probably already replied and got priority at the PEPCs. And yes, cost was also a problem for me.

So I am in San Diego, selected for a CA terminal position, and will keep posted as to my progress. Bummer I found out of my selection on the last day of the LA PEPC, or I would have tried to weasel in there, because it's so close! But they probably won't be having another PEPC in LA any time soon.

That will be before the July PEPC I was offered, but not before the June PEPC. I am keeping my fingers crossed. I just got the email saying that I have been seleceted for further consideration at Minneapolis ARTCC and asked to go the non-PEPC route do to the locations being on the other side of the country from where I am.
 
Good luck with your interview! Had mine back on June 17th and just waiting for the next letter still. She told me it will have the info about my location in texas as well as where and when for my medical. Checking the mail everyday...
 
Also non-PEPC here. Just got my email with various forms to fax, and will succumb to the long wait (gladly, I'm still waiting AF separation)
 
Got an email telling me where my interview is but no date as of yet. Will advise on progress. Vortmax, could you pm what type of questions they asked you.

I see that the old route seems to take a long time, and there seems to be more paperwork involved... But in contrast, they asked me specifically to go the old route with them.. Anyone have any suggestions/thoughts? I would hate to turn them down then go to PEPC and end up being assigned at the location under the person that I basically ignored so that I could fast track. On the other hand, a personal interest from them to me seems like it may be a more definite route. What do you all have for that?

Definitely don't ignore your future employer lol...I don't know from experience, but I have seen on here that although the traditional route seems to take much longer, there have been cases where it was quicker than a PEPC. Maybe with the manager's interest in you specifically, this will be the case. Just do it:)

Thanks Jooks, Hell if you can steer me you should be fine with a few jets. I will keep everyone posted on what happens.
 
For sure, interview the manager where and when he wants you to. He may be the one doing the interviews at the PEPC, and wants to get your interview out of the way first. Don't cancel any PEPC appointments.

Best of luck to you, but I must say, be careful about this here, only because one certain applicant got royally jumped all over for supposedly having her father help her application. She got turned into a scapegoat for all the "do-it-yourselfers," and put down alot.

I wouldn't ask anymore on here, IMHO. There are vultures here ready to peck out your eye-sockets for "relying" on someone else to get you in, cuz they didn't have any help either.

FULL FLAPS FULL FLAPS.. I didn't intend on it coming across as someone was getting me in. I am a veteran, with a few years as a terminal controller overseas, 98.8 on the sat and I have my PEPC confimed with Terminal in Kentucky and I certainly didn't have any help except for this forum. No plug ins, they know as much about me as the PEPC guys do at this point. My main concern was blowing it off to go to PEPC then having to show up for work there after OKC as the guy that already has a strike against him. I have the interview coming whether by PEPC or by the local facility.

And I am definitely not "the daughter"..
