Anyone considering ATC?

I am just wondering if there are anyone on here who is an established pilot but noticing themselves more curious about becoming an air traffic controller. Just curious, thanks.

I'm very interested in ATC. If I could no longer hold a first-class medical but could retain a second-class, no doubt ATC would be my back-up.

Well, technically I'm still considering ATC. I applied to both PubNat 4 & 7. Didn't get picked up for 4 and from what I understand, those in PubNat 7 are just now being invited to test. As I turn 31 next January, I'm not holding out much hope that I'll get picked up now.

To be honest, while I would really enjoy ATC, I'd much rather fly. Even with the current problems in the industry. Cuz there is always corporate. :D

I think I'm going to give flying a couple years and see how that progresses before seriously considering it but I have thought about it.

I would like to do it, just visited our new control tower in Spokane and most of the guys here are retiring soon. So I have a good chance some day, since I have 10 more years before I turn 31

I'm going to apply next time around, if I get it awesome, CFI on the side but if I don't then oh well. Of course there is only 1 tower in the country that I would accept employment to so I'm not holding my breath on becoming ATC.

I considered it. Almost went to one of the big colleges that offers ATC. However, after I got my private I decided there would be no I could watch other people fly every day for a living.

However, if the future family doesn't like me being gone all the time or the medical issue, I'd go to ATC no questions asked.

I made the switch and enjoy the work, but its a lot of studying. I do miss flying but I go flying with some friends that own an airplane once or twice a month. I don't miss having to cancel plans with friends or missing a lot of family events, compared to flying. Oh and its nice knowing your schedule the next day before 5pm.

I can just see myself in ATC: I'd be tongue tied, confused, stressed out, and completely lost. :buck: That being said, I have considered it.
