Anyone at aviator right now?

Just wondering if anyone in here is actually training at aviator right now. If so do you mind pm'ing me some contact info so we can talk?

I was at the school this weekend but was in a hurry because my girlfriend and her daughter were there (3 year olds are impatient). I got to talk with Mike for a while and look at the planes but didnt have time to talk to students and cfi's.

Overall I was really impressed with how straight forward Mike was and I like how Aviator keeps the cost down for the user. I also went to Flight Saftey Academy and was really impressed with thier facilities but I would rather have my money go to my flying rather than useless simulators and goodie bags that they give you. Not to mention how much more expensive it is.

And you can't go wrong with all the multi time you get at aviator over anyone else.

Anyway thanks for any more advice and info in advance.

hey there,

i train at the aviator, and am just finishing up my multi-private. i had my single-private before i got here. well, the aviator is a good place, only problem is they are kinda short on instructors and have a decent number of students, that leads to fewer flights. Before i got here,I thought i would fly twice a day, but instead I only fly once a day. thats good in a way, cauz u get time to soak things up and read up and prepare for the next flight. Patience, is very essential here.. :).

i heard they are gettin a few cessnas and a duchess in pretty soon. and the next batch of instructors shd be finishing up with their ratings, so the instructor shortage shd'nt be a problem, i think.

Cool, thanks for the info. I too have my single private now. Honestly, I am in no hurry to finish my ratings anyway because I am going to do a full move down to Vero Beach.

Do you rent or did you buy in Vero?

i live in the schools' housing. $500 a month, water gas electric wireless internet incl. vero is a very spread-out kinda area.. nothing much within walkin distance.atleast where i live.hahahhaha!.. i need to get myself a ride. later on maybe.

yea, if time is of no concern, aviator is the right choice.. i mean for the money u pay.. u get the best deal!.. 200hrs twin time!.. no one comes even close.

the one im with is good. All the instructors have done their trainin on the duchesses, so they knw them pretty well.

hehehe, heard abt one instructor who couldnt keep his students.. they kept switchin over to other instructors. dunno if he is still around.

Well thanks alot for all the help. I am pretty dure I am going to be starting sometime in April. I just need to get my paperwork in order. I have my class 1 medical next week.

Good to hear! I've also read about the new aircraft and a new batch of instructors wouldn't hurt :)

I'm moving from Stockholm, Sweden to Vero beach on monday. Gonna start with the PPL rating the week after at Ari Ben.

See you guys soon!

According to Mike 2 of the planes should be there now. I already bought my books so I can start reading up since I have a few months before I start.

Question is, are they flyable? When Mike says he is getting "new" planes it normally means he's purchased a couple of accident damaged wrecks. He will cannibalize parts from timed out (20,000hr) Duchesses, give them a G430, a cheap paint job and get them on line. Would you drive a used automobile that was involved in an insurance write off.......let alone a plane?

Don't get me wrong the Duchess is/was a great plane but they are getting a little long in the tooth now. I'd consider paying the extra for something decent like one of the DA42's. They are brand new and cost very little extra.

What I like about these posts are that they remind a reader of the opportunity to perform due diligence research in examining airworthiness of anything you fly. You can then make an informed decision to fly an aircraft.

For me, the example provided above sounds incredulous, but the thought process about being comfortable in an aircraft that is safe is sound. One should not fly/drive in anything you're not comfortable even . . . if the plane is brand new. Matter of fact, the aforementioned question is rather rhetorical. I'd not fly a brand new King Air 90GT if I were not comfortable with it. I would consider not flying anything deemed not airworthy although that doesn't mean I wouldn't fly it. We all know there are legalities to the term airworthy and legal to be airworthy because of administrative errors (paperwork). Again, due diligence research by the pilot is key before deciding to fly. A&Ps and FSDOs can help with the research.

Lastly, always beware of unscrupulous persons with whom you do business, for negative results can happen. Also, this is the internet - beware of unscrupulous posters posting far fetched hypotheticals, twisted innuendoes, unsubstantiated facts or comments that might indicate the poster might be in need for bi-polar medicine to be taken immediately. Just my perspective. . . ;)

Oh, FF - you've not PM'd yet! (Now where is my prescription pad? Oh, I found it! Let's see here - Let's double the dosage for. . . . . . . .:D)

You know FF you really need to get a life!!!

Move on Man, your dwelling in the past, and it makes you look foolish and bitter, nothing more!

If your going to try to flame the school at least give some facts that mean something or can be substantiated and then have the Juevos to put your real name at the end. Those who originally thought of concept of free speech in the bill of rights, you seem to want to hide behind, certainly did.

I go to the Dallas Air salvage all the time to get good serviceable parts for my 150, using old parts, or salvaging parts from old airplanes is done by everyone including the airlines and the FAA has procedures and paperwork in place for just such things. Have you ever priced NOS parts from Cessna or Piper, maintaining a airplane is expensive, maintaining a training airplane is even more expensive.

Ultimately its up to the PIC to establish that his airplane is airworthy, no one else. So It would make sense for a pilot to learn a little bit about it, that way he or she will know they did their best to fly a safe airplane.

Sorry for the rant everybody, I'm off my soap box.

Your saying that an airplane that sells new at around 500K+(thats a half a million for us public school kids) rents for "very little extra" than an airplane that costs used around 60K to 120K . You did take economics in college, right??

Personally, I would rather fly on old airlane that has some problems here and there. It's called learning.

I did my PP trainign in a old used and abused training C-150 that had a good relliable engine. Every ounce in a while we would have a strut go flat or a gauge go bad on us. What did I get from that...a learning experience. I feel it makes you a better pilot being on your toes and thinking about how to solve a problem.

Now an airplane without reliable engines...thats not so much fun, especially with a single engine plane.

I like the fact that Aviator uses older planes and keeps the cost down (in comparison to the other schools out there now). It is definatly the best bang for the buck I found.

Bill, have you forgotten? People with no backbones or no intestinal fortitude graduate from college. . .provided one goes and graduates.
